Together

Blue's breathing stopped for a long moment, as she heard those words.

Ethan's aquamarines bore down into hers with so much sincerity, so much affection, so much love, she could not find it in her to take her next breath.

She had dreamt of this moment for so damn long, but now that it was finally here, she had no idea how to react. She did not even know that she was crying until Ethan brushed the tear off the corner of her eyes.

"...W-What?"

Her voice came out barely over a whisper, as she managed that question out.

"I love you. I know that this may come off as sudden, but I do. I've loved you for a long time now. I just needed some time to come to terms with myself about it, and now that I finally have, I didn't want to waste another second without telling it to you." Ethan said in one breath, heart tightening when he still saw the sheer disbelief in her eyes.

"I love your brilliance, and the way you use it to help people who really need you."

I love how much you care about your friends, patients and everyone around you."

"I love how you always put everyone else before yourself as much as I hate it at the same time."

"I love your humour, even when it's horrible. But the way you try your hardest to not laugh at your own lame jokes, makes me love them too."

"I love how you always see the good in people even when they don't deserve any of your kindness."

"I love your eyes, your nose, your lips, your hair, your hands, and every other thing that makes you who you are."

"I think...it would be impossible to know you and not fall in love with you. You always give so much to others, that it makes me love the way you love..."

Blue continued to freeze in her spot. It was one thing to hear him say those three words, but it was another thing to hear him say it ten times more since he first said it to her.

On the other hand, Ethan knew. He knew that if he was to finally say those words to her, he would not be able to stop himself from saying it, again and again. However, her reaction, or lack there of, seemed to scare him. What if he had read it all wrong? He knew that she definitely had feelings for him, but he did not know if it was to the same extent he felt for her as well.

"I understand if you don't feel the same way but--"

Ethan's next words never came out, as he was silenced by Blue slamming his lips to his.

His hands dropped from her face, as she had moved her hands to cup his face instead. It took him a few seconds to recover before he looped his arms around her waist, and pulled her flush into him, as he deepened the kiss even more if possible.

Blue moved her lips against his with an intensity that none of them even imagined was fathomable. They could taste both of their tears, a mix of yearning and longing, all in the best possible way as every single thing, even the most minute one, that kept them apart was demolished in the way they entangled themselves with each other, physically, emotionally and dare they feel, spiritually.

She broke their kiss, their breathing extremely ragged as they made room for oxygen in their lungs again. Blue kept his face close as Ethan rested his forehead on hers, his eyes still closed. She opened her eyes to scan his features from that proximity.
