Rekindled Inferno
"I would love so uncondtionally that I would not be able to challenge. I would not be able to push."
________________________________The elevator ride up to the thirtieth floor should not have been as tension-filled as it should have been.
Ethan stood near the buttons, his hand occasionally reaching up to brush through his tousled chocolate locks that got Blue's focus thoroughly.
Even with his worn out sweaty appearance from the soft ball game, Ethan Ramsey was a greek god in the best possible way. His jersey if not clad tightly before, it was certainly stuck to the sharp lines of his chiseled chest now, and her eyes trailed down to even see the faint lines of his impeccable six packs that she had laid her hands on almost six months ago.
Had it really been that long?
How did Blue ever last that long away from him? Two months without even seeing him nor hearing from him, and four agonising months having him so close yet not being able to touch him freely.
Sure they had their moments from time to time, the secret touches that they allowed themselves to indulge in, and even the bold acts of comfort back at the Serenity Garden and in Ethan's car after going on a ridiculous Men In Black mission initiated by her.
But they also faced the repercussions that came with it. The rough patch that they both faced for a few weeks over the course of transition for the diagnostics team in which its principles were altered to treat priviledged people in hopes of it being the only way for them to continue treating those who had nowhere else to go.
Blue did not know for how long she was thinking until she felt a finger poke at the crease between her eyebrows easing the strained muscles there caused by her frowning intensely.
"What is it?" Ethan asked coarsely, the husk in the base of his throat indicating him that he desperately needed to drink something. "Hmm? Nothing...I was just thinking." Blue replied, watching as he digged into his bag taking out a red flask of water before gulping the remaining in it down his throat. Blue watched as his adam's apple bobbed, the long expanse of his exposed neck stirring a blazing pit in her core.
Lord, it was going to be a long night.
How was she going to hear his problems out when her eyes were too busy roaming him, finding every bit of his colossal being attractive to the end?
"I'm positive that the frown on your face will be gone soon." Ethan said right as the elevator came to a stop on his floor. Blue looked at him quizzically, raising an eyebrow. "How do you figure?" Blue asked. Ethan simply smiled in return as he walked up to his door.
From a distance, Blue could hear excited scratching of wood coming from behind his door. "Err...Ethan, I think someone broke into your house." Blue said with wide eyes, as the scruffy noise from inside his penthouse apartment became louder as they neared the door. "I'm afraid so." Ethan replied chuckling at the expression on Blue's face before his keys to unlock the door.
As if whoever was making that noise was expecting the harmonious crinkling of keys, they started to make a noise.
Bark to be exact.
Blue's eyes widened in realization as she looked up at Ethan with wide green eyes, almost hopping on the spot with excitement.
"Is that Kylie Jenner?!" she squealed. "Jesus, Rookie. Keep your volume down. And yes, it's Edward Jenner. Dad brought him here three weeks ago when he last visited." Ethan replied, his tone darkening a bit at the mention of his father, but Blue decided not to comment on it.
