"You're letting me win..."

"No, I'm not."

"I can see it in your mind, Kylo."

I point out with a playful smirk dancing on my lips; he rolls his eyes, trying to hide his own smile. Watching him move a chess piece, we both know I can take in my next turn. My smile widens, and I shake my head in surprise at his obvious surrender.

We're sitting at the table across from one another playing a round of chess; I've won one game already, and it's clear I'll win with time as well. I don't understand why he's letting me win because growing up, it would take us hours to play one game just from how competitive we both are.

Today he seems to just be giving up and allowing me to win, making my wins less entertaining for me. Still, I find some fun in it because I have Kylo's attention. He came home earlier this afternoon to do his work at his desk, but I've been able to distract him for my enjoyment.

It's been nice and peaceful having him around this afternoon instead of being by myself with Snips. We worked out this morning, but it was only a physical workout for me. I've done nothing in the past two weeks but work on growing muscle and stamina.

I have yet to touch my new light saber, but I'm not complaining. The workouts have become barrable and easier to do overtime; I don't feel as overworked as I did the first week. I feel more energy throughout the day from becoming comfortable with the daily workouts.

I sense Kylo's glad about it too, which is why he's spending more time with me, even though he should be working. Sitting across from him, I'm wearing a light blue dress. Carmon came in after my workout to do my hair, but I picked out a dress she designed to wear for the day.

It's a floor length dress with puffy short sleeves and a low heart shape neckline. It has layers of thin blue fabric that make it appear thicker on my hip and legs. There's silver sparkles in the fabric and it's tight around my chest.

My hair is in wild curls and clipped back on either sides of my head. I'm assuming Carmon came to fix my hair because Kylo requested it since he's come back earlier this afternoon.

I don't mind the dress and hair since I knew Kylo would be back after I got finished changing. I've unconsciously become excited now when I get my hair done because I assume it means I'll see him more that day.

"You know... If you 're going to keep playing this way, we should make bets."

I suggest innocently while taking one of his pieces off the board and replacing it with one of mine. He hums at my comment before rubbing his jaw with a hand. He seems to be amused with no motivation to play better in our game.

Feeling his foot brush against mine under the table, I watch him move another piece in a terrible spot. Sighing dramatically, I stand up and walk away, declaring.

"At least me make it a challenge for me Kylo."

"Angel, we could play it in minutes or for years and we'd still know who'd win." Kylo announces nonchalantly and stands up waving a hand. "I'd rarely ever beat you in the past. I've accepted that defeat long ago."

"It's because you're impatient..."

I snort and walk over to the bookcase to glance at what it offers. It only has a few books and none of them entice me to read. Glancing behind me to find Kylo admiring me, I explain what I've known for years.

"If you just took your time, you could beat me. It's a waiting game."

"Unfortunately, I don't have the time or the patience's... As you put it." He confesses teasingly before heading over to his desk. Sitting down in his chair, he leans his head back to look at me while suggesting in a darker tone. "Besides, I only have enough patience for one thing at a time, and you fill up that position most of the time."
