M U T E D
Season 9
Bobbie's Point of View:
I walked over to the infirmary, checking in on Aaron. I wanted to see how he was doing, how he was feeling. But when I walked in, he was asleep and Tara sat beside him. Saddiq was here. After Rick and the bridge, Enid got help by sending Aaron back to Alexandria. Two days later, she went back to Hilltop, she went back home."Bobbie." I turn my head and see Saddiq standing a small distance from me. I pull myself from the chair beside Aaron's bedside and I meet Saddiq halfway. "How you holding up?" He asks.
"I wanna take the test." I tell him. Saddiq glances at Tara and he switches to sign language.
"The test? Like...Like the test?" He asks. I nod my head. He nods his head and grabs my arm, guiding me off to a private room.
The room fills with the sound of a heartbeat as Saddiq runs the probe over my small stomach. I slowly shut my eyes and took a deep breath. This can't be happening. This better be my heartbeat. Saddiq turns the monitor screen and he points at my uterus.
"If I'm right, you're actually 2 months, maybe 3." He says. I let out a sigh and my hands rest on my forehead. "But...you're skinny to be three months. Three months, you should be the size of blueberries. You should be showing a bit by now."
"Are you even a doctor to determine babies?" I question him.
"Look, I was in my residency when the world ended, okay? I did learn about fetal medicine here and there. You...kinda have to." He says.
"So...if I'm supposedly underweight for my baby, what does that mean?" I ask him. Saddiq removes the probe and wipes off the gel.
"Well, it could be a number of things. Fast metabolism, morning sickness, appetite loss, other medical reasons." He says. "Have you had any morning sickness? Are you eating for two like you should?"
"I don't even feel hungry these days." I shrug. Saddiq nods his head.
"I wanna have you admitted here. Maybe I can give you some nutrients or something for you to eat and properly go through this pregnancy." He says.
"I can't. I have stuff to do." I tell him.
"Like what?" He scoffs. "I've seen you walking out there the past two days. Have you even spoken to Daryl about this?"
"The last person I wanna talk to about my baby is Daryl." I frown. Saddiq frowns at my words.
"He's...He's the baby's father, isn't he?" He asks. I let out a silent small laugh.
"Are you accusing me of sleeping with other men besides Daryl?" I question.
"N-No. it's just. If I were with a woman and she held information from me, especially a child, I'd wanna know."
"I'll tell him when I'm ready."
"When will that be? When you show up one day and tell 'Daryl, meet our child.'" He frowns.
"I will talk to him when I'm ready." I frown at him. Saddiq holds a long stare with me before nodding his head.
"Alright. Okay." He says. "But I want you to take it easy and eat. Even if you don't feel hungry, you have to eat. If you're spotting, if you're feeling abdominal pain, you come straight to me and I will help you. If you want a healthy baby, you need to take care of yourself."
