Season 4
Daryl's Point of View:
"This way! Come on!" I whisper to Beth. It's dark in the night. The moon is high in the sky, shining bright, that was our only light. The snarls and growls of the walkers behind us only motivated me to run even faster. The crunching of the leaves and sticks under our feet only called for the walkers to follow us. Their hot on our asses and our only goal is to find a safe place or to outrun them.
I push through a set of trees, same with Beth, and we come to street. I look up and down, trying to figure out my next move.
"Come on." I say breathlessly to Beth and get to the street. As Beth checks the car, I kept watch. I pointed my crossbow in front of me but listened closely in all direction. I can hear the clicks from the car as Beth tries to turn it on. The leaves and bushes begin rustling and I turn back to look at Beth. I get to the trunk and opened the door. As Beth runs to my side and climbs in, the snarls and growls grow louder. I finally hop in the trunk myself and sat myself down. Beth scoots away from the door and made room for me. I look up and grab the trunk door, pulling it down and hearing thunder rumble in the sky as I did so. I close the trunk and used the red rag I kept with me to tie the door down. I look at Beth who sat in front of me. I point my crossbow at the door and waited for one of them bastards to try and open the door, but none of them did. The car filled with thumps and it rocked side to side from the walkers bumping into the car.
Thunder booms and the lightening flashes. The walkers are louder from the noise and the rain leaks inside the trunk, getting us wet. After what seemed like hours on end, the thunder slows, the flashing of the lightening stops, and the walkers are gone, but it's still dark. I was exhausted, tired, hungry, angry. All I wanted to do was go to sleep. But I knew I couldn't let Beth stay awake and defend for herself.
The sun finally comes up. Beth looks at me before reaching out and unties the red rag. I push the door up and Beth is quick to climb out. I climbed out after her and I look around. Trees are knocked over, walkers underneath the trees, leaves and branches broken and lying in the road. I turn back to Beth and see her holding a white garbage bag in her hand. I nod my head at her and I walk off.
Eventually we move into the woods. Maybe I can spot some squirrels or something for us to eat. We get squirrels, we build a fire, we eat. Beth stays behind to build a fire and our camp for the night while I went hunting.
I spot a squirrel and shoot an arrow, completely missing. I walk up to the tree and pull the arrow from it, examining the arrow; it's bent. I sigh and break it in half. I moved on, trying to hunt down any squirrels but my luck was complete shit right now. I wasn't catching anything. I suddenly hear the rattling of a rattlesnake and I pick up a stick. I search around for the snake and spot it below me. I slowly crept up behind it and held it down with the stick before jabbing my blade into the head. I walk back to camp and skinned it. Beth already has the fire going, all I gotta do is cook this bitch up.
I look at the camp and saw that Beth put up some noise makers Incase any walkers came at us while we slept. I look at the fire pit and finally began cooking the snake. After thirty minutes, I cut it in half and began eating. I give the other half to Beth and we sat in silence eating our snake dinner.
"I need a drink." Beth suddenly says. I look at the water bottle before me and toss it to her. "No, I mean a real drink. As in alcohol. I've never had one. 'Cause of my dad. But he's not exactly around anymore so...I thought we could go find some. Okay, we'll, enjoy your snake jerky." She says and gets up. I take a couple more bites of my dinner and I walk off to go find Beth.
