M U T E D
Season 3
Daryl's Point of View:
Rick and I walk to the mysterious woman and we see her sitting on the table top of a table, holding a rag to her left leg.
"We can tend that wound for you, give you a little food and water, and then send you on your way." Rick starts. "But you're gonna have to tell us how you found us and why you were carrying formula."
"The supplies were dropped by a young Asian guy with a pretty girl." She finally says.
"What happened? We're they attacked?" Rick asks.
"They were taken." She says.
"Taken? By who?" Rick asks.
"By the same son of a bitch who shot me." She growls.
"Hey, these are our people. You tell us what happened now!" Rick growls and grabs her gunshot wound. She shots up and backs away, pointing her finger at Rick. I pull my bow up and point it at her.
"Don't you ever touch me again!" She growls.
"You'd better start talkin. You're gonna have a much bigger problem than a gunshot wound." I growl.
"Find 'em yourself." She scoffs.
"Shh, Shh, Shh, put it down." Rick whispers to me and lowers my bow. "You came here for a reason."
"Theresa town. Woodbury. About 75 survivors. I think they were taken there." She says.
"A whole town?" Rick asks.
"It's run by this guy who calls himself the Governor; pretty boy, charming. Jim Jones type."
"He got muscle?" I ask.
"Paramilitary wannabes. They have armed sentries on every wall."
"You know a way in?"
"The place is secured by walkers, but we could slip our way in."
"How'd you know how to get here?"
"They mentioned a prison, said which way it was in, that it was a straight shot." She says. Hershel walks in, joining the interrogation.
"This is Hershel, the father of the girl who was taken. He'll take care of that." Rick says. I hear footsteps approaching me and I see B walking in. The girl sees B and she furrows her brows.
"I'm sure you people are nice people." The woman says. Rick glares at the woman before walking away. Hershel approaches the woman and he begins to treat her wound. I walk over to B and look at her.
"Everything okay?" I ask her.
"She's got a bruised rib, could be a crack, maybe a fracture. She'll have to take it easy for a while." Beth informs me.
"And the leg?" I ask.
"Just a bruise. Nothing serious." Beth smiles at me. "She wants to step outside." I nod my head and grab B's hand. I lead her outside and we step outside. I look at her, closing her eyes and breathing in the fresh air. The wind blows and she takes it all in. I waited a smile to appear on her face, but it doesn't show up. I grab her hand and she quickly flinches and yanks it out of my hand.
"Tell me what happened." I say. She lets out a sigh and rubs her forehead. "Come on, B. Just tell me. I know he hit you, I know he did." I say. She shakes her head and walks away.
"B. You need to tell us. You saw what happened to Carol's husband. There's consequences he needs to face." I say.
"Daryl. Bobbie." I turn around and see Rick standing in the doorway of the prison. B quickly turns around and she heads over to Rick. I sigh and finally walk inside myself.
"This is Glenn and Maggie. Why are we even debatin?" Beth asks.
"What's goin on?" I ask.
"We don't even know if we can trust this woman." Rick says.
"We ain't. I'll go after them." I say.
"You can't go alone." Rick shakes his head.
"I'll go." Beth steps up.
"Me too." Axel says.
"I'm in." Oscar nods. Rick takes a breath and he nods his head. We gather around the table with all different weapons and we begin to gear up.
"I got the flashbangs and I got the tear gas. You never know what you're gonna need." I say. I look Carl and I see him looking a little stressed out.
"Hey, don't you worry about your old man. I'm gonna keep my eye on him." I say. Carl nods his head and we all pick up the bags and head outside. I see Carol holding on the baby as she looks around.
"Stay safe." I tell her.
"Nine lives, remember?" She smiles at me. I nod my head and glance at B who sat down on one of the metal benches. "Hey," I look at Carol. "I'll keep an eye on her. Make sure she isn't alone with him." She says.
"She flinched. She flinched when I grabbed her hand." I say. "She's never done that with me before."
"She was beaten up badly, almost beaten to death. I'd be traumatized myself if that happened." She says.
"I know who did this. I'm just waitin in him to admit it." I say.
"He won't admit it. They almost never do." Carol frowns at me.
"Then I'll beat the hell outta him until he does." I shrug.
"No. The best you can for now is wait for him to mess up. He's guilty of something. Anyone that's ever guilty of something, they always slip up." She says.
"So I gotta wait to catch him in the act?" I ask. "That could take days, weeks, maybe even months."
"As long as it takes. Maybe until Bobbie yells the truth herself." I sigh and stare at B.
"She needs me." I say.
"Or maybe she doesn't." I turn my head and look at her. "She was beaten half to death, Daryl. She isn't going to talk to anyone for a while. She may even not want to talk to anyone, maybe not a man at the least. She's okay with me, I can tell you that. She's sort of...imprinted on me."
"Imprinted?"
"She trusts me now. I was the first one there when I found her. After I watched T-Dog get his throat ripped out, I ran through the halls til I got to the solitary wing. She was on the ground, unresponsive. She opened her eyes and she reached her hand up to me to help her. I tried asking her what happened but she didn't tell me. She won't. Maybe she's not ready. Maybe she hasn't gotten to that point yet."
"What point? Getting beaten up is a clear sign she's reached her point."
"Maybe that isn't her breaking point. She's got
