"So, tell me Y/n ..." Peridot said as Y/n and her sat in the field next to the barn. "How do humans work?"
"What do you mean?" Y/n asked, confused. "Do you mean how humans stay alive?"
"Yes, precisely that." Peridot nodded. "I've read a few reports on how organic beings exist, but what are humans like?"
"Well, from all the 'organic' beings on Earth ... Humans are pretty similar." Y/n told. "The only difference I can think of is our brain ... It gives us conscious thought."
"Indeed, humans are much more capable than Homeworld believes ... It is quite surprising that no other organic beings have developed to the same intelligence that humans have." Peridot remarked.
Y/n chuckled and then looked up into the sky. It was beginning to get dark, and since the duo sat in the field, it gave the, a perfect view of the stars above.
"Gems don't seem that much different to humans, huh?" Y/n said, earning a confused look from Peridot.
"Of course we're different, I mean, just compare-" Peridot went to describe the differences between the two species, but Y/n stopped her.
"Yes, there are differences, but if you really think about it, we're very similar." Y/n told. "We both have thoughts, feelings, and emotions."
Peridot hummed, clearly processing the information. "I suppose you're right ..." She admitted.
The two sat in silence once again, looking at the stars that engulfed the night sky.
Y/n was the first to break it. "What do you think of us?" Y/n asked.
"You mean humans?" Peridot questioned.
"No, I mean us, the Crystal Gems." Y/n clarified.
"Hmmm ..." Peridot pondered. "You're all defective, strange, and even annoying sometimes ..."
Y/n nodded, already sensing a but coming in. "But ..." Peridot said, stopping to think.
"You're all nice and caring ..." Peridot admitted, blushing slightly.
"That's nice to know." Y/n smiled, placing a hand on the small gems shoulder. "I know Homeworld might see the Crystal Gems as evil rebels out to kill everyone, but the truth is ... The Crystal Gems wanted all gems to be free, just like the inhabitants of Earth."
Peridot's blush got brighter at the contact, she looked away, hiding her head between her knees. "I-I s-see ...!" She managed to croak out.
"Are you okay?" Y/n asked, sitting up and trying to turn Peridot to face him.
"AH!" Peridot yelled, standing up and running towards the barn as she hid her face.
"Huh." Y/n said, watching Peridot run into the barn. "That was odd."
Y/n looked back out to the view, breathing in the fresh, cool air, but he was disturbed once more.
"Y/n." Garnet said, approaching the human from behind. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Y/n smiled, patting the ground next to him, signalling to take a seat. "Was just talking to Peridot."
"I saw." Garnet nodded as she sat down next to the human. "She seemed very flustered."
"She's always like that." Y/n laughed. "She couldn't get over the fact that Steven called her cute."
Garnet chuckled, finding it easy to believe. "But that's not why I came here." Garnet said, intriguing Y/n.
"Oh? What's up?" Y/n asked, becoming slightly concerned.
"It is Steven's birthday soon; we'll be throwing him a party." Garnet said, instantly making Y/n relax. "I wanted to invite you."
