Chapter 95: Preparing and Reliving

It was a breezy, overcast day in Beach City. Y/n was currently sitting on the opposite side of town on what the Gems called Y/n's 'Brooding Hill'. He was staring at the now empty hill where the lighthouse used to stand. „Lapis..." Y/n said to himself „You really miss her, don't you?" said the slightly angelic voice of Rose in his mind.

Y/n took a while to respond and collect his thoughts. He was getting better at not letting Rose peek into them without his conscious permission first, be it for the better or for the worse. "Yeah... I hoped she would listen to me and stay here, where we could all protect each other, but now that she's out there somewhere..." Y/n sighed, letting his mind blockade slip a bit "You're worried Homeworld might take her again?" Rose asked, feeling his thoughts. "I guess..."

Anyhow, I've been here long enough already." Y/n got up, put his hands in his jacket's pockets and headed downhill towards the barn. Once he was standing relatively close to the barn, he noticed just how much work the Rubies put in to make the barn feel like home. They reinforced the wooden structure with bits of scrap leftover from the work on the drill. "My my, the two have been busy" Rose noted "They sure have..." Y/n commented.

Suddenly a Ruby Y/n quickly identified as Doc peeked from the entrance of the barn. "Y/n!" she quickly ran towards the human, hugging his legs as she reached him. "Hey there Doc! How are you and Lucy doing?" Y/n said while kneeling down to hug the Ruby. "We have been reinforcing the structure of this here human construction with the materials and tools available! The Peridot assigned to the Earth mission has been helping also!"

"That's great!" Y/n said "At least she's taking her mind of Lapis..." he muttered under his breath "Did you say something Y/n?" Doc tilted her head "Oh, uhh, I was wondering how the farm was coming along?" Y/n said this half truth, while it wasn't what he said, he was also wondering about the progress of the farm "Oh, that is more Ruby's- I mean, Lucy's project. You'd have to ask her" Doc responded

"Where IS Lucy, by the way?" Y/n asked the red gem "I think she's out shopping for various food items with the human currency you left here" Y/n widened his eyes in surprise "I left cash here? Oh well, good for you, it's not like I'm going to run out of the stuff anytime soon" Y/n chuckled. While the bunker's construction cost and upkeep cut into his earnings, he wasn't anywhere near the red quite yet.

"Anyway, if you see Lucy say 'hi' from me! I gotta run and check if the Gems need me" Y/n started moving towards the warp pad "Alright! Bye Y/n!- Uhh, I mean, affirmative." Doc slipped her professional persona for a moment. Once they were done talking, Y/n strolled over towards the warp pad. Once he reached it, he stood in the center and instead of saying the location he wanted to warp to out loud, he thought it instead, focusing on the temple's warp pad.

Suddenly the bright stream of light engulfed him, and after a few seconds he was standing in Steven's house. The house looked trashed, as if someone crashed into every surface possible with as much force as possible. He saw Amethyst in her Purple Puma form holding Lion over her head with a victorious grin and Stevonnie sitting on top of Lion holding onto their dear life, all while the poor feline had a rather unamused expression.

Suddenly all three looked over to the warp pad, seeing Y/n

"What... What happened here?"

Steven and Amethyst were watching 'under the knife' while lazing around on Steven's bed "Maaaan, there's nothing to dooooo..." Amethyst groaned into one of the pillows on the bed "Yeah... Even the under the knife marathon is kinda boring today, isn't this a re-run episode?" Steven stated while moving his head to stare at the window "Yup, why do cartoon networks even do that? They air older episodes of shows alongside new ones, so it's hard to track unless you're a big nerd"
