Thomas Shelby is always deep in thought, like he's the only person living. Nothing around him matters when he's hidden away in the depths of his mind. He opens the door that leads to the betting room that's next to the Shelby family's residence. He's met with greetings from men who are placing bets. He greets some men until he feels his brother tap on his shoulder to inform him that their aunt wants to talk to him privately.

He walks over to his aunt. "Tommy, let me speak and do not interrupt. I need you to promise me that you will stay calm." She has a sense of sorrow and sympathy in her voice.

"That depends on what you are going to say, Pol." He states calmly. "I just found out for myself that Ada is pregnant. She doesn't want to listen to me, but you've got to talk some sense into her." She whispers as if she wants to keep it a secret for herself too. But that doesn't even slightly work, as he doesn't waste his time listening to one more word his aunt is saying.

After a while of running around like a fool, he finds his sister in the moving pictures. He throws open the doors of the room and walks over to her to sit down. He sighs and asks, "What's the man's name, Ada?".

Ada, who is as stubborn as any other Shelby, answers with the name of the actor who is playing on the white screen "Rudolf Valentino." Her brother stands up and goes outside.

For a moment, Ada thinks that her pettiness pays off and that her brother is stupid enough to believe her. But no, not Tommy. She realized that when the lights went on and the movie stopped.

Tommy orders every single person to get out so he can talk to his sister. The room is cleared in a matter of seconds. "I said, tell me his fucking name." He orders her as he leans on the back of her chair. "Freddie fucking Throne!" She speaks out loud and clear, as if it's the first time she's said his name out loud. "Yeah. Your best mate since school. The man who saved your life in France So go on. Go on, cut him. Cut him and chuck him in the cut!" She keeps going as her brother walks out of the room. "Oi? I'm a Shelby, too, you know. Put my fucking film back on!" She yells before the lights go out again.

Gia was getting ready to do another shift when her phone rang. She knows that the only people who would phone her are her family. She slowly picks up the phone and is met with the voice of her mother.

"Ciao Cuore Mio!" Her mother's sweet voice almost made her tear up. "Ciao Madre." She replies. "Come va?" Her mother asks. "Bene, Bene si. Como stai?" She stumbles over her words.

"Sto benne Tesoro." Her mother can feel the confusion in the head over the phone. "Come sta papà?" Gia asks shyly. "Vorrei poter dire che sta meglio." Her mother answers truthfully.

"E con Luca?" She asks about her oldest brother. It isn't uncommon for them to butt heads in their daily lives. "Sarò onesto, tuo fratello ha preso la tua partenza davvero duramente." Her mother laughs sweetly.

"Ma basta brutte notizie. L'altro tuo fratello si sposa!" Her mother speaks excitedly. "In nessun modo davvero!" Gia felt like she finally had something to be excited about.

"Il matrimonio è in mese in Sicilia. Verremo a prenderti una settimana prima. Chi porterai come appuntamento?" Her mother questions her love life.

"Così presto? Non lo so ancora mamma." Gia smiles sheepishly. "La prossima volta che chiamo voglio un nome. Ciao bellezza." Her mother laughs, and with that, their conversation ends.

She puts on her pants, ties her shoes, and is out the door. The phone call with her mother took some of her time, and Gia doesn't like being late anywhere.

While walking on the street, she gets a couple weird looks from people. Word travels fast in small communities, but she isn't ashamed, so she looks right back, scaring them away.

Tommy is woken by Curly screaming after him on the street in the late evening. "What's wrong with the horse?" Tommy asks multiple times. "He's cursed. They let an old woman put a curse on a seed in its hoof." Curly explains with a sad expression on his face. "So those Lee bastards cursed him." Tommy realizes.

"I told you, Tommy. Better enemies to have than black blood gypsies" His uncle speaks up. Tommy knows there is only one thing to do. He doesn't want the horse to be in pain. "Leave." He demands. With them gone, he apologizes to the horse and shoots him dead. He drops the gun as if it will erase what happens. He leans his head back and closes his eyes. "Fuck." He sighs in pain.

She is closing up the pub when Tommy walks in with his head in another world. She notices him but doesn't say anything before stepping a little closer. "Tommy?" She says to get his attention. He looks up, and she can see how broken he is through his eyes. It's enough to take her breath away for a couple of seconds.

She turns around and gives him a bottle and a glass of whiskey. "What happened?" She asks softly, like she's scared the answer might make him look exactly like she fears he truly is. "I shot my horse." He looks back down, escaping her questioning eyes. "It looked at me the wrong way. It's not a good idea to look at Tommy Shelby the wrong way." He explains in a husky voice after sitting down.

She steps from behind the bar and sits next to him. She wouldn't normally do this, but he isn't stopping her, so why would she stop herself? "You can tell me the truth when you want." She looks him in the eye. "The horse was cursed, wasn't it?" She asks another question to make him speak. "I had no other choice; I didn't want him to suffer." He feels the need to explain himself.

"How did you know?" He asks her. "It's the eyes. His eyes were wild and in pain." She smiles sadly. He laughs at himself in a sadistic way. "I even made you depressed." "No, you did not. My brother is getting married. My mother has already called. The wedding is in Sicily, and I better have a date. That's what makes me depressed." She managed to make him smile a little.

"Don't you have a man waiting for you in America who you could bring?" He asks. "I don't." She looks down. "Then who will you be bringing?" He looks straight at her with a slight sparkle of hope in his eyes. "I don't know, it depends on my mood." She smiles knowingly. He hums. "Have you eaten already?" She asks him out of the blue, giving her his attention.

"No, mom, I haven't." He keeps himself from smiling. "I just need to close the back, and then I'll make you something to eat." She stands up, but he stops her by taking her arm. "You don't have to-" He begins. "I insist." She cut him off.

And off she goes. He knows she isn't innocent, but something about her sympathy, or perhaps pity, makes her look like the most innocent person he has ever laid eyes on. In a matter of seconds, she is back. "Up you get." She takes his whiskey before he can finish it and puts it behind the bar.
