Gia was sitting in front of the fire with a book in her hand. Letting her brain work by reading was the only thing that took her mind of the many issues she was facing during day time. The Thursday sun had just set leaving only a couple of specks of orange in the sky. The only sounds to be heard were those of the birds singing their last song, the fire crackling, and an eventual maid walking by in the hallway.

Her peace was ruined by the sound of a car hitting the cobblestones. stella's hair stood up as she started barking "Stella nein." Gia ordered She tilted her head to look at the clock. Tommy wasn't supposed to be home for at least another hour. She turned her head the other way to see Mary run to the door while yelling "I'll get it." She heard the door open and stood up. She slowly made her way to the soundless chatter making it louder.

As she closed the last couple of meters and found herself standing in the shadow of the big door she exchanged a look with Mary. Since she detected the man Luca had sent, she was always on her guard. Walking around on her tiptoes, Never making a sound she didn't mean other people to hear. She hasn't told Tommy yet about the encounter. He wasn't going to hear it from her mouth. She was sure to keep quiet about her business.

"Listen, Lady, I just want to talk to her." She heard the low Italian voice of a man say. The moment the first word came out of his mouth she envisioned the owner of the voice in her head. Without furder ado, she opened the door swiftly. The velocity of opening the door made the wind go through her brown hair.

She had to look up to look the bigger man in the eyes. Once he greeted her with a big smile on his face and welcomed himself in. She was able to see the person standing behind him. She saw the magnificent Roma. Gia had always loved her timid cousin but was never able to hold contact with her as a kid.

She heard her cousin giggle in content as they hugged each other. It was weird seeing how she hadn't changed. Their family was very outspoken and proud, yet little Roma had the same innocent eyes as the last time Gia saw her. She heard her uncle whistle as he went into Tommy's bureau.

Gia and her cousin followed the sound. "I see you're doing good." Her uncle kissed her on the head. "I'm comfortable, yeah." Gia laughed. "Comfortable? This place looks like a fucking palace." He went on. "It's my fiancé's bureau." She informed them. Roma gasped and directly grasped her hand to take a look at the diamond on her finger.

The pride in her uncle's eyes could be seen sparkling from meters away. "Well, you've made yourself a lifestyle alright, miss ma'am" Her uncle laughed the emotional moment away. "When are we going to meet this bloke?" He questioned her as he enfolds her while walking out of the room. "He's out dealing with some business." She answered him while still respecting Tommy's privacy.

"I see, as long as your happy, amore." He smiled once again. "Tío, why did you come here?" She finally asked the question that was troubling her mind. "I wanted to see how you were doing." He talked with his hands. "You never go anywhere without a reason." She explained to him. "Slow down! Big talk is for later. Let me first take a look around this fucking palace." He walked off down the hallway.

Gina heard Roma sigh loudly and looked over at the slightly smaller woman. Gia gave her a heartwarming smile and took her hand before saying "I've gotta show you something" She started running through the front door, hands locked with her cousin. It was quite a sight for sore eyes. The two young women running around and giggling like two children. They looked happy as if they didn't have a care in the world. Nothing mattered but the very second they were living in.

Out of breath, the women arrived at the stables. Gia opened the big door which made an atrocious sound because of the portal that dragged on the ground. She turned around to see her cousin wait anxiously. She walked over to a stable where rested a mare with its filly. Gia honestly smiled at the admiration for the animals in Roma's eyes.

"What is he like?" Roma asked her breaking the silence. Gia smiled at the thought of Tommy and looked in front of her "A soldier of the living dead." Gia recalled him saying this to her as she asked him about France and his feelings. She heard Roma giggle in content. She gave attention to Roma by looking at her and saying "What?" Roma kept on smiling and mumbled "Nothing. You haven't been happy in a long while." Roma side hugged her cousin.

With Gia's head placed on Roma's, they both could've stayed there in that moment for hours but the moment was broken by the sound of a car arriving. Gina gave her a knowing look and walked outside to welcome her loved one. Only when he walked out of the car to see his white chemise filled in somebody else's blood. Gia's smile fell as if she saw the colonel knock at her house to inform her of a loved one's passing in war.

With his hair in disarray, he looked bewildered. His scared eyes looked for the woman he loves. When he heard the sound of someone running towards him he turned around. Gia's hands flew to his face to check if everything was alright with him. He put his hands on her shoulders as if he visually checked her for any evidence of being hurt. "Are you okay?" He asked her. She answered with a nod as he embraced her in his arms.

With his chin on top of her head and his arms around her, she felt safe for the seconds that lasted before he would explain the evening's events. She wanted to time travel, go back to Reading her book. She wanted to run away to another World for just an hour to ease out the pain that reality gave her. She wanted to be the bride of adventure when she decided.

She heard her uncle yell "What the fuck is going on out here?" Tommy turned around with his gun Aimed at her uncle's head and asked "Who the fuck is this?" Antonio didn't seem faced by him and talked back "Who the fuck am I? I'm the man who's going to slap you in the face if you don't put that gun away."

Tommy's brows frowned in confusion as he felt Gia's feathery hand on his shoulder. He looked at the hand and then at her glacial face construction. Without looking at him and keeping her eye on the man who was now laughing from their encounter she revealed the o so secret identity of the man "Tommy, this is  Antonio Changretta." He looked back at the man.

If his gypsy heritage ever made sense it was now. He had the feeling he was reliving a dream, maybe a Deja Vue. The air of the man was offputting but his sharp and concentrated eyes were telling their own fate. As the men shook hands their flew by a black crow signifying either death or bad luck.
