She sat down in her office chair with the smell of wood to be found everywhere. As the clock was ticking while Gia was working, Antonio's footsteps were to be heard walking in the building. In a matter of minute's, he was standing in front of her door. Without a knock, he let himself in.Gia looked through her eyebrows to see who the intruder was. Once she had placed an identity to the round face, she went to greet him. She loudly sighed as she sat down in her chair. "What are you doing here, zio?" She asked as she went on to write the end of her sentence. He placed his fedora on the table and put one leg over the other.
"I could ask you the same?" He responded to which she put her pen down and straightened her back. "What is this about?" She questioned. "We can't keep on asking questions until one answers." he toned loudly. "What are you doing, Gia? You are smart, don't ruin your relationship with your family over a disagreement. Look how it worked out between your father and his brother. Your father got everything, and he got a bullet."
"This is different-" She started. "How?" he asked loudly. "His bullet has been written long before it was made." She answered without wasting more than a breath. Antonio looked down and rubbed his hand over his balding head. "If you think that this is the outcome that I was planning for me, and my family, then you're a fool." She went on.
"You are stepping into a world you don't understand. The moment you'll understand that what you're doing is wrong, it'll be too late to even doubt your actions." He stood up and slammed his hands on her bureau. Without having flinched Gia stands up and looks him in the eye while positioning herself in the same manner.
"I'm not going to sit here and take notes of a vigliacco who ran when he understood life was going to be a bit hard. My family has been living this life for 30 years if you think I can't handle my shit, then fuck off. Don't waste the time I don't have." Gia whispered showing her true side. He scoffed while he picked up his fedora. He slowly walked to the door and slightly opened it before turning around and saying, "You are everything your mother frightened you to be." He informed her. With a slam of the door, the man was gone, leaving Gia in her thoughts.
As the pen in her hand got in caressed the skin of the paper, Gia pressed too hard, leaving a big stain. She groaned and threw her pen against the door. She heard a small knock on the very same door only seconds ago her uncle stormed out off, sure to leave people talking. "What?" She asked loudly. The door slightly opened to show a Shelby brother.
"John." She stood up surprised. "I come in peace so, don't throw shit at me too." He slightly laughed as he put his hands up. Gia scoffed and sat back down. He cleared his throat and rested his hands on the backrest of the chair. "With a lot of convincing from Pol, mostly threatening. I came to say that I know I've been acting like a child around you." He tried to say sorry in his own manner. "I appreciate that. Sorry that my brothers made it hard." She excused herself uncomfortably.
"And to say that there is a 10-year-old at Tommy's office asking for ya." He informed her. Gia furrowed her brows. "What do you mean?" Gia asked as she kept on working, not seeing the urgency. "I don't bloody know. He just knocked and came in. His name is fucking weird too." He went on to sit down.
Gia looked up and asked, "What is his name?" He laughed before he got out "Ro-Rocco or some shit. A bird name is you ask me." She mumbled "Shit." before storming out of the room. Running out of the building everybody was looking at her with questionable looks on their faces. She arrived at her car but was fastly turned around to face John.
"What the fuck are you doing?" John yelled. "Rocco Changretta." She didn't have to say more for John to understand the urgency. He stepped in front of the steering wheel. He looked at Gia who held his door open. "Get bloody in." He told her, but Gia didn't move. "I promised myself to never sit in a car with you behind the steering wheel." He rolled his eyes and got out.
How Gia made the normally half an hour drive in only fifteen minutes will always be a mystery for John. Once they arrived she opened the car door and ran inside. This, plus her accent, was one of the things that gave away Gia's original nationality. John sight as he parked the car in their garage where it was safe.
Gia's high heels could be heard arriving from inside of Tommy's office. He looked at the boy and sighed, "Good luck." As he stood up to go, and calm her down before she murdered him. She walked past Lizzie who tried stopping her from entering as she didn't have an appointment. Gia got through and threw the door open. He slowly walked up to her and laid his hand on her shoulder. Before he could say something she lifted her finger and told him "Save it." He walked back to his bureau and gave the boy head's up as he placed his hand on his shoulder now.
Tommy, sat on his bureau in front of the boy. You could see the flames in her eyes and steam coming out of her ears as she slowly closed the door and walked up behind the boy who didn't dare to turn around. She cleared her throat, and the boy stood up.
He slowly turned around after Tommy nodded his head. He looked his godmother in the eye. He hoped the smile on his face would erase the trouble he was in "Ciao, Marina." She put her handbag down on the bureau while saying, "Spare it." He looked down.
"Rocco, Guardami negli occhi. Ti rendi conto di cosa succederà dopo che tuo padre si renderà conto che sei con me, eh?" This was the first time Tommy heard her speak fluently Italian and was surprised by it. The way the word's rolled of her tongue was erotic in a way Tommy had never seen before.
"How did you even do it?" She questioned him as he didn't answer her. "Zio had business in London. Pa let me go with him, and yeah, from then on, it was easy." He explained. She sighed and told him, "You're too smart-" He cut her short by saying, "-For my own good." She scoffed and took him in her arm's. She broke the embrace apart and said, "I'm not mad at you, but you need to talk to your parents before you do stuff like this."
He nodded and sat back down "You really think he would let me come here?" He asked her which broke the look that Tommy was giving Gia. "It doesn't matter what I think. You are only 10, that's why what your parents think matters. Talking about being 10, dovremmo farti un regalo di compleanno." She smiled. He responded with a sad smile.
"Wipe that thing off your face e sostituiscilo con un vero sorriso." She pinched his cheek. As she picked up her bag she heard him say to Tommy, "Can I go see the racehorse?" She turned around and saw Tommy smile at him. It was quite a beautiful view for her eyes. How could a man as dangerous as Tommy be so gentle and warm? It was a question that evaded her mind most of the time.
