Gia slept in today but has to meet Tommy before midday at the Garrison. They were going to discuss what was happening with the Russians. Tommy has been keeping her in the dark since she has been shot. Which she isn't a fan of. For some reason, Tommy has been making sure everything was extra calm and peaceful around her and their son.

Gia goes over her thoughts as she looks in the mirror. She has been putting clothes on for the past fifteen minutes, but nothing could hide the bump that seemed to grow faster than in her first pregnancy. She sighs loudly as she's left with her last flowy dress. Her chest, stomach and thighs are bigger. It doesn't happen often, but she's scared of people's judgement. Especially Tommy's.

Before all of that, she has to go visit her mother. Gia is a very realistic person, but deep down she hopes her mother would get well again. She hopes that an angel would pass by and in some way make her mother whole again. She hasn't been visiting her mother lately. She is petrified that it could be the last time she would see her mother.

The passing of her father was a hard pill to swallow. And if she's honest, she will probably never truly get over it. He wasn't very fatherly at the beginning of her life. He was cold, distant and very calculated. In some ways, he reminds her of Tommy. Yet, Tommy has this bright light in his chest that from time to time shows how good he can be.

Her father realised that his lack of affection rubbed off on his children. Only he was too late to bring his relationship back with Luca and, for some part with Angel too. It broke his heart to see his children so detached from him. He stood by it to not 'ruin' his last child. Which the other brothers we're silently jealous of.

Gia was confused at first by her father's change of attitude. It's like one day he woke up, and he was determined to be a different person. Whether that was in his business or private life. He changed his marriage from empty love to consummate love. The people went from fearing him to respecting him. All this change made Gia's thoughts about her father change too.

Her bond with her dad grew throughout the years. But there was this pit of emptiness in her heart. While many were positively surprised by his overnight change, Gia wasn't. She felt that his change was unjust. She was mad for all those evenings that he wasn't there, for his empty seat at the dinner table, for every time she blew the candles on a birthday cake, and he wasn't there to sing for her, or those evenings she could hear her drunk dad scream at everyone.

But in the eyes of strangers and her own family, she had no right to be mad. In the beginning, she believed the words that left their lips. Yet, she still hoped that one day he would tell her, 'I'm sorry.' But he was too proud to say anything. Then came in her mother, the woman who would comfort her and whisper sweet words into her ear.

Now, she's stood here in front of her mother's death bed with a dress that only just covered her, but with her long black vest that wasn't visible. Her mother's grey hair lays gracefully in a pool underneath her head. She didn't look in pain, she looked at peace. The corners of her mouth are slightly up like she's having a beautiful dream.

In some way, this calms Gia down. The beauty of her mother's natural face reflects in Gia's green eyes. Gia smiles thinking about her mother's grey eyes. It would be the first thing people recognise about her. The shine in her eyes attracted people into socializing with her. Maybe, it was better that she was asleep, Gia thought. Her mother thought that Gia was her sister, the last time she saw her awake. It broke Gia's heart in a million pieces when her mother said she didn't know someone named Giovanna.
