If you'd look through Gia's big window in her office, you'd see the bright blessed day starting slowly. It was never quiet in the city. The people walked under flowering trees and started wearing lighter clothing. Gia didn't have time to see the art nature gives to the people as she was too occupied listening to other people's problems. Having no regrets is all that she really wants.

In contrast to most human beings, she did love listening to other people's troubles. Most of the time, it was something simple that could be resolved with money, as does everything these days. It made her feel better, as if what she does matters to others. The people would come back because they owed her and believed in her. That's why she was never short-handed on men.

Naomi came into the room as Gia shook hands with what was supposed to be the last person she had a meeting with today. Naomi politely waited for Gia to initiate the conversation. "Yes?" She smiled back and sat down with a sigh. Naomi walked stiffly walked closer to the bureau. Gia wasn't sure if the woman was stressed or if her pencil skirt was too tight.

"Mr Shelby has asked for your attendance at the scrapyard." The woman began. "For?" Gia questioned with an elevated brow. "Finn didn't say. It seems to be quite an urgent matter." Naomi checked the paper in her hand once more. Gia was dumbfounded and asked to be sure "The scrapyard?" Naomi answered with a nod.

She sighed and stood up to get her vest from the hanger. "What have they done now?" Naomi scoffed at Gia's question. "With men? It could be anything. At war, they at least had something to do. Now, they all fight each other over nothing. During the war, it's the women who took over and quite frankly shit went right." Naomi mumbled as she followed Gia to the stairs. "Isn't that right." Gia agreed.

Gia still liked the pride, the big office gave with her name in gold on it. Tommy had asked her to move out of the building and come settle in his office, but Gia wouldn't erase the pride she held for anything in the world.

After a small fifteen minutes, she arrived at Charlie's scrapyard. She slowly made her way into the yard and didn't see anything. It's only when she heard someone say, "Don't get blood on the kid, or she'll have our head." Gia turned one corner and saw a group of men huddled over what seemed a person on a chair.

Gia stopped and waited a couple of seconds before saying, for everyone to hear, "Who'll have your head?" The men stiffened up, and not one turned around except Tommy. As he fastly walked up to her, he mumbled, "Shit." He placed his hands on her shoulders and blocked her view. "What are you doing here? Doesn't matter, it's not as bad as it may seem."

Gia scoffed before answering his question. "Finn did. Said it was an urgent matter. What's going on?" John slapped Finn on the back of the head which, made Gia look behind Tommy. That's when she saw her godson, Rocco sitting on a chair. She pushed past Tommy and ran up to him. Tommy wanted to block her way, but she glipped through his fingers.

The other men weren't much help either as they all took a big step backwards. She bent through her knees and suddenly didn't care about her clothes or shoes getting dirty anymore. "Cosa è successo?" She asked as she took his arm with the wound. "Sto bene. Ci hanno sparato ma va bene, il proiettile è già uscito. Arthur ha detto che ora sono un vero uomo." The boy toned proudly.

Her mother did the same thing when she was mad. First of all, she would only get angry if she was disappointed, which felt worse. The silence was worse than if she would stand up and slap everybody on the back of their head. "Excuse me?" She toned, which made everybody, including Tommy, who couldn't see her face as he stood behind her, loudly gulp.

Rocco looked down and gave her the bullet. She took it in her hands and warned, "First and last one. Capisce?" He nodded and stood up when she stood up. She took him by his arm and started walking off. As she passed by Finn, she took him with her. "But-" Finn started. "Shut up and walk." Gia shut him down.

She put the boy's in the car and told her driver to drive them to Polly's house. She turned around and back up to Tommy and his men. "You're not with the boys?" He questioned as the men walked a bit further to give them some privacy. "No, I rather walk before I bust any of y'all heads in. I'm just warning you, Tommy. If my son or any of my kin so much as comes near a fucking gun again, you're going to wish you never had met me. See you at home." And with that, she was gone off to Polly's house.

As she arrives after thirty minutes, she wished she did take the car. Even though the spring sun tickled her skin in the most beautiful way. She opened Polly's front door and walks in. She picked up her son from Ada's arms, who was giving her a knowing look and walked with her to the kitchen.

Polly was putting a bandage around his arm while Finn watched. When Polly was done, she took Elijah from Gia and left her to talk to both boys. Gia walked closer and saw the scar already growing on his arm in the future. She unbuttoned her sleeve and tilted it to show a bullet scar on the inside of her arm.

"I was fifteen when I got this scar. For a couple of years, I showed it proudly to everybody so they could see that I was not to be fucked with, but now this scar is a reminder of the painful truth life carries with her. It's a reminder neither of you should have. Our generation busted our asses off so you wouldn't have to. Don't make our hard work go to waste because of your pride." She hid the scar as fastly as she showed it.

"Off you go." She told Rocco but held Finn's arm. She turned to the taller boy and told him, "Don't feel like you need to live up to your brother's image. It's his, not yours. I love Tommy, but I don't agree with everything he does. If you're going to be involved, stay on the clean side." He smiled and hugged her. "Thank you for always stomping on eggshells everybody tiptoes on." He whispered and then walked off. She looked down and lighted a cigarette. "You're welcome." She mumbled.

They stayed for lunch but then fastly left. Gia's trip to New York was on getting closer. Tomorrow they would leave for the city that never sleeps. She secretly missed every part of it, but she had created a life here that she couldn't walk away from. Her underboss, Mario is going with her. So, it's her other cousin, Carmello that'll be in charge in her absence. She missed the modernity of her original home, her only home.

She heard the door open of their room as she was getting her jewellery ready. The bags were already cared for, but her jewellery was something she didn't like other people touching. A girl likes her diamonds. He walked up to their son, that lay on their big bed. She looked in the mirror and saw Tommy's shadow hide the sun from her son's face.

He kissed the boy on the head and made him giggle. For a second, she forgot about how mad she was, but when he looked up with those dreamy eyes, she felt the anger again. It was less strong, but it was there. He walked out of the room and came back without their son. He walked up to her and placed his arms around her shoulders.

He placed his head on her shoulder and looked in the mirror while rocking back and forth. "I love you." He whispered in her ear.
