The heat of a kiss.

Gia took a big breath and looked at the view she got from her bedroom. They had arrived a couple of hours ago, and she sure felt tired. She had opted for a more subtle house in the South Side of New York City itself. She sighed as she didn't get the happiness that she thought she would get.

This place wasn't her home. She was from Central New York. She'd wake up to the sound of traffic coming from the outside, kids playing, and people passing by on the street. Even if she wasn't born in New York, she felt like a true New Yorker.

She caught Tommy's face in the reflection of the mirror and turned around. She had dragged him with her, but not once did he complain. She knew he had business to attend but, she wasn't sure if she would be able to finish the war between her and her brothers if she had to worry about him, her son or even Rocco.

He smiled and walked up to her and kissed her. "Are you happy to be back?" He asked her. She sighed and took a look at the still-empty street. "I don't know yet." She answered as she looked back at Tommy. They kissed again, only this time there was more lust in the kiss.

Tommy heard the satisfaction in her quiet moan and took it as a sign. He lifted her up and laid her on the bed. Gia could feel the warmth of his kiss burn through her skin into her veins. She felt him getting hard against her leg. She sat up and undid his pants. She took his hand pulled him onto the bed.

She placed herself on top of him and started to ride him. She went to place a kiss on his lips. He looked up and was amazed at how beautiful his wife was. She looked down as she felt his warm breath on her upper lip. "Yours." She whispered.

Her hair fell on his face. He took the hair and placed it on the back of her head. In a matter of seconds, he turned them around with him on top. His hand slid down to the side of her neck."Mine." He whispered back.

Around one in the morning, Gia got woken up by her secretary, Naomi. "Sorry to wake you up this soon Gia, but there is an urgent matter." Gia sighed and sat upright. She lifted the blanket to protect herself from an unwanted reveal. When Naomi noticed that she wasn't dressed, she quickly left her in privacy to get dressed.

As Gia turned around to look at Tommy's sleeping figure, she was surprised by the empty side of their bed. She closed the long silky robe close to her core. She walked out of her room and went to Rocco's. She opened the door but still didn't see Tommy. She went to Elijah's room and was relieved when she saw Tommy fast asleep in the rocking chair with a hand on their son's belly.

She slowly closed the big wooden door and made her way to the dinner table. She was met with an angry Mario, stressed Roma, and Naomi who stood with papers in her hand at the entrance. Gia took the papers, and told her to go get some sleep. She hugged Roma and asked, "What are you doing here?" Roma just gave Mateo a look.

Gia slowly made her way to the head of the table and sat down. She waited for someone to inform her of what happened, but no one spoke up. As she catches a glimpse of Mateo cleared her throat and toned, "Per favore, tell me why you look like you want to kill yourself, Mario?" He scoffed and answered, "They know."

Before Gia could ask to elaborate, he went on saying, "They know that we're here, they knew we were coming from the beginning." Gia sighed and mumbled, "Of course they do." As the silence uncomfortable to some settled, Mario spoke up again, "We shouldn't have trusted him."

Gia furrowed her brows and asked, "Who?" Mario looked her right in the eyes and answered, "Carmelo." She gulped loudly at the name of her well-trusted cousin. She felt betrayed, as if she should have seen the red flags from afar. "I'll deal with it. It has been a long trip from Birmingham till here. You should get some sleep." She offered. "What I should do is get a drink, ey." Mario made his way out of the room.

Gia took a quick scan of the files she got from Naomi before looking up when Roma asked, "What do you mean with 'I'll deal with it'. Do you mean that you'll deal with the plan or with Carmelo?" Gia stood up and walked around the table. She stopped at Roma and leaned against the table. "I'll deal with everything, as always. You should get some sleep though." She tried smiling, but it was obvious to Roma that she was disappointed.

"You're going to kill him." Roma blurted out. "What I will or won't do is up to me. But I won't say sorry for taking extreme precautions in protecting my famiglia." Gia admitted. "But he is your family!" Roma got visibly upset. "Then why would he do that? " Gia questioned with pain in her voice.

"Because it's the way of our family." Roma realised. A tear left Roma's brown eye and fell on her blouse. "No, it's the way of my family." Gia corrected. Gia was crying but wouldn't dare to let a tear roll down her  cheek. "Take a chauffeur of mine back to your pa. Stay as far away from this family as you can." Gia placed her hand on Roma's shoulder.

It took some time for Roma to digest Gia's offer. The longer she looked at her cousin the more she realised that it wasn't an offer but an order. "I'll send some extra money in case, but you should be fine." Gia began. "But what about you? I just got you back." Roma intervened.

"Oh, I'm not going anywhere, but you can. For fucks sake, you can go anywhere you want. You could maybe go to college or go and meet other culture's I don't know. Life has so much more to offer you. Don't waste it trying to play mouse and kat." Gia toned. "This is my fate. Figure out yours."

Roma knew that she wasn't much in touch with this side of her family but to ignore it and walk away for the rest of her life seemed crazy to her. When Gia gave her little speech, Roma got just enough adrenaline to do it. They hugged each other as if it was the last time they would see each other. God knows, maybe it was.

Roma backed away from the hug and walked away. A part of Gia wished that she wouldn't leave. She wished that Roma would just be stubborn enough to talk back, but she didn't. She heard the front door close and took a deep breath. The other part of her knew it was the best decision to make for a better outcome of Roma's life.

There she sat alone in a big room that was lighted by a chandelier with nothing but her thoughts in her head and pain in her heart.
