Painkiller.

One whole day. She didn't talk to him for a whole day. He knows that he shouldn't have yelled at her, but it's easier to yell at someone than to tell them that you're hurt. The tension was thick because of the glares she gave him. He just couldn't take them anymore. As stubborn as she is, he's fully aware that she will not back down with them any soon.

They are almost past London, and by now, the others have caught on to the death glare the married couple gave each other. He has to say something. He pressures his lips open, and before a word comes out, he felt a sharp shooting pain in his shoulder. The pain wasn't unfamiliar, but definitely uncomfortable.

He heard his brothers shout in the back of the car, but that was all muted by the sound of Gia's whimpering. Tommy turns his head to see blood spreading over Gia's dress. "Gia?" He yells. He suddenly doesn't feel the shooting pain in his shoulder anymore. The worry for Gia and his son worked as a painkiller.

He turned around and saw John laying over Elijah, which brought some peace to his mind. He started driving fast to the hospital of London Central. He looked over to see Gia closing her eyes. He lifts his hand to where the blood is spreading, to realise that she has been shot in the stomach. He lifts his blood covert hand to her cheek and neck. Leaving some blood behind on her olive skin.

"Stay with me, Gia! I can't lose you... I'm begging you Gia look me in the eyes." He started out strong but his voice quickly became a slop of emotions. "Think about Elijah! You can't leave him alone. He isn't anything with me. We both need you, please!" He begged. He saw the hospital and stopped the car. He steps out of the car and runs to Gia's side. He opens her door and lifted her out of the car.

He looks down at her heavy eyes and starts running towards the hospital. He left the car behind with his brothers. His once white chemise was becoming crimson red from both his, and Gia's blood. Which didn't go unnoticed by the people passing by on the street.

He opened the door of the hospital with his back. He looks back down in the now-closed eyes of his wife before he yells, "Someone help her, please! I can't lose her!" The doctors come running up to him and take her out of his arms. "Sir, you're bleeding. You'll need some assistance too." The doctor noticed his bloody shoulder. "I need her to be okay first!" He answers.

They roll her away on a hospital bed. The doctor leads him to a cabinet before he can ask them where they are taking her. Tommy refuses to stay seated in this small room without knowing where his wife is. He walks back out of the cabinet, but he is stopped by John, who has Elijah on his forearm. "John-" Tommy tries to move past him.

John places his hand on Tommy's neck. "Tom- Tommy, listen to me! For fucks sake! Arthur is already on his way to take care of Gia. Before you see her, they have to take that bullet out of ya." They put their forehead together. With a shaky voice, Tommy admits, "I can't lose her John." John sighs, "I know." He takes Tommy back into the cabinet.

Gia's head is pounding as she tries to lift it. She feels two hands forcefully putting her head back down. "Don't move your head, love." She recognises the voice, but even thinking is hurting her head. She tries to open her eyes, but all she sees is a mask being put over her head. "Just close your eyes, darling." As she closes her eyes she feels a sense of calmness come over her. After a couple of seconds, even the pain goes away.

Tommy is eager to go see Gia. Which is why taking the bullet out, and sewing him up only took about ten minutes. He didn't even let the doctor finish his sentence. Once the bandage was wrapped around his torso, and shoulder, he stood up. He puts his bloody chemise on one shoulder and over the hurt one. He opens the door and runs the way his wife was rolled away in.

He arrives at the end of a corridor and looked to his left and right. Before he could decide which way to go, he saw Arthur come out of a room with a big sigh. He makes his way fastly over to his brother. Not even acknowledging his brother, he goes to open the door. He is stopped by Arthur's hand on his chest.

"You can't go in there, Tom." He sighs. "Let me see my wife!" Tommy presses. "They're operating her. And... it's not looking good, Tom." He tries to soothe his brother. "How is this even possible... Thirty minutes ago we were still in the car." Tommy squads down. Arthur puts his hand on Tommy's shoulder to show compassion.

Sinds the day at her house, almost two years ago, he didn't even think about Gia not being in his future. And now he has to think about the fact that she might already be gone by tonight. He doesn't know what to do. He doesn't know what to do now. He wouldn't know what to do if she died. He doesn't know the lyrics to the Italian lullaby she sings to put their son to sleep. He doesn't know what he would do without her soothing words by his side. He doesn't know what he would do without her sweet caresses in the evening. He just doesn't know what he would do without her.

"I'll never forgive myself if she dies in that room." He mumbles as he stands. "Don't think about that. Go call her mother instead." He suggests. "Take Elijah with you." John says. He takes his son in a warm embrace. The little boy has a big smile on his lips and an innocent glint in his eyes. If only he knew that his mother might be dying this very second only a couple of meters from them. "Mamammm..." Elijah got out excitedly. All Tommy could do was kiss his son on the head.

After an hour and a long phone call to Gia's mother, Tommy was still waiting in the hallway. All they could do was wait. So, Tommy told the mother to stay home and only come to the hospital once Mario passed by her. John had taken Elijah with him. The boy was better of at John and Esme's house than to wait in a hospital. Arthur was also gone. Tommy had ordered him to go find out who shot at them, even tho he already had an idea. But Tommy wasn't going to leave the hospital before he knew his wife was safe and alive.

After another hour passed, Tommy had called some men to stand in front of the hospital and in the hallways of the big building. He rested his elbows on his knees and sighed in his hands. That's when he heard the door open. He shot his eyes open and stood up directly. "Mr Shelby, the husband of Mrs Shelby, I suppose?" The doctor asks after looking down at the folder in his hands.

"Yes, how is she?" He presses. "She's still asleep, but she crawled through the eye of the needle. She will get better just fine, don't you worry. Oh, and the baby didn't take any harm either. Tho her pregnancy is still quite early. So, she'll need a lot of bed rest." The doctor informed with a sad smile. "Will you follow me for some more detailing about her injuries and to sign some papers?" He questions after Tommy didn't react to his answer."When can I see her?" He asks, not answering his question. "You can see her around she wakes up, but when she does wake up we will need to be alerted immediately."

Tommy looked at the door to the operation room and questioned how he could protect another child if he couldn't even protect the love of his life.
