A/N- Kaito Momota centric

TW: Spoilers for the entire game(partly, because I'm not about to name every single spoiler), broken Kaito Momota, almost nothing is canon, and...yeah I think that's all...No..actually...Saimaki...and a mastermind Kokichi AU that is not explicitly stated, along with some traitor Korekiyo which is also not explicitly stated-

Korekiyo's sister is *poof*.

Kaito and Korekiyo had a sort of friendship, where Korekiyo would usually just feed Kaito random facts that no one else is bothered to listen to.

Mentions of African and Native American slavery(Hey, I'm putting my social studies to use! Though, this topic shouldn't be taken lightly...).

3rd Person POV

"K-kaito? Please, say something!"

"Kaito! Speak against it!"

Shuichi was yelling at Kaito, and so was Maki. They really didn't want ti believe that someone so...believable...Could betray the remaining survivors? After all they had done to even stay alive?

Korekiyo had killed Kokichi. Tsumugi had killed Himiko and Tenko. Miu had killed Gonta and Ryoma. Now, Kaito was being held under the weight of killing Kaede and Angie.

"You wanna know why?" Kaito asked, voice scarily devoid of emotion, yet sounding so..deadly alive.

Nobody answered.

"Honestly, I expected at least someone to figure out. Unexpectedly enough, Korekiyo had to go out of his way to kill Kokichi. He was a good liar, as well as a lie detector."

"Kaito, what are you getting at?" Maki asked worriedly.

"I'm saying that I'm lying. I've been lying since the first time you all saw me smile, cower in fear, and be angry. Nobody could show so much emotion like that."

"Kaede and Angie did, thoug-" Kiibo was cut off.

"They were both overly happy and optimistic. It was almost sickening, you know? Persuading someone with something that they'll never get. Freedom. Almost like something Kiyo showed  me. Probably about thousands of years ago, slavery for darker skinned people was..legal. It was a disgusting time. No wonder Kiyo lost faith in humanity so long ago..."

"What? Didn't Kiyo have something about him saying that humanity was beautiful the little time he was alive?" Kirumi questioned.

"I think Kaito's trying to say that even someone as proper as Kiyo had to lie, to him and others." Rantaro crossed his arms.

"Correct. I suppose everyone who has died so far has one thing in common, minus Gonta and Ryoma. They lied to themselves." Kaito looked down, but not in exact guilt, rather tiredness.

A tired feeling filled the room, as if coming off of Kaito. It almost didn't feel natural, until Kaito chuckled.

His normal voice came back, with the same fire in it as before.

"Alright, fine. I'll admit, I don't wanna leave my end on sour note. I'll give you my motives, and then you guys can start the voting, and Monokuma can execute me. Okay?" Kaito lifted his fists up, almost as if he was looking for approval.

"May I ask one question before you decide to proceed, Momota-kun?" Kirumi asked.

Though her words were formal and balanced, her gripped fists forcefully being put into an arms forward position gave everything away.

"Shoot." Kaito said with a fake grin and a thumbs up.

"How are you ever so calm about...all of this?" Kirumi asked, now shaking slightly, but not enough for anyone to notice.
