A/N-Happy (now late, goddamnit) Birthday, Hajime!
I wanted to wish my second favorite protagonist a Happy Pappy Birthday, and get a move on, as I'm writing this exactly on January 1st! No stops(yes stops, considering that it is now the 4th-)
warning: there will be many points within the story where the timeline may switch. please look out for this line stop (-) if you don't want confusion. the au will not be marked, and it is up to you to decide the name of it.

Hajime woke up, messy and soft as usual. When soft is mentioned, one may think that it was merely just his hair or attitude, but it was all of the above, and more.
Without the proper routine he usually carried out through the morning, he looked, and felt messy. He also felt more tired than usual, and decided that today wasn't the day to do anything overly outstanding in particular.
His tired persona made him forget that he was in a killing game, as he walked sleepily over to the dining hall with a jacket draped over his shoulders, and clasped weakly around his body.
Before he could get very far, his tired mind decided it'd be alright to rest on the stairway for a bit, so off he went, into the recesses of his mind.
Chiaki's POV
I was the last one to the dining hall. Nagito told me so, when he came to get me. I think he's better than most of the people on this island. Maybe except for Kazuichi and Hajime. Kazuichi has fixed my games for me multiple times in our time on the island, and Hajime actually willingly plays. I like Nagito because he willingly plays, and also gets me great characters in drawing games(y'know, when you...uhm...pull things with gems? I don't know how to explain it, I'm sorry...) when his luck is good!
We walked into the hotel, and...
"Hajime?!" We both sprinted towards Hajime's corpse(?), and checked his pulse.
"Alive," Nagito sighed, picking the Chestnut boy.
"This is new..." I murmured, fingering the jacket he had around him.
"Let's bring him somewhere more comfortable to sleep...an ultimate like him shouldn't be lying on the ground..." Nagito sighed, as we brought him upstairs.
Since we both weren't that strong, I was supporting Hajime's legs, and Nagito was supporting his upper body.
Well...I'll test my strength later, if I can...
"Oh my god! What the hell?! Is he dead?!" Hiyoko screamed when she saw us.
"...N-no! He isn't d-dead! His c-chest is moving up a-and down, s-see!" Mikan let out shrill squeaks as a result second hand anxiety.
"This totes gives me a new song idea! And title!" Ibuki squealed. "I Passed Out, and Now All My Friends Think I'm Dead!" She giggled.
"Not now, Ibuki!" Mahiru scolded the girl lightly.

"Mmngh..hngh...?" Hajime mumbled, rubbing his eyes.
As his became aware of his surroundings, he noticed how his head was propped up. He deemed it comfortable, looked up, and sat up so quickly, he gave himself a headache.
"Ghh!" Hajime winced, clutching his head with one hand for stability.
"Good morning, Hinata-kun!" Nagito chuckled.
"Your character has been sleeping for 13.7 hours, and you've been away for 28 hours," Chiaki murmured into her Sims game.
"Accurate," Hajime could only respond, leaving Chiaki giggling at the truth.
"Hey, who's jacket it that?" Chiaki asked, tilting her head to the right.
"An astronaut's..." He responded, slowly falling asleep to the background noise of Ace Attorney's OST.

(I'm gonna be self projecting on Hajime)
"So this is what you were playing while I slept? Turnabout Visitor..." Hajime murmured, vaguely recalling how much he abhorred the culprit in the end.
"Yeah," Chiaki answered simply, as she finished the case off with a satisfying show of Mr. Portsman swallowing his medal, and falling to the ground.
"Don't you think it's a tad bit ironic? Playing a game about murders and trials while we'e in a game exactly like that?" Nagito piped in, craning his neck to see Chiaki exit to her Molang-themed home-screen on her game boy.
"Should I do another case, or should I play Omori instead?" Chiaki asked the two males beside her.
"More Ace Attorney could possibly benefit us more within the killing game," Nagito responded truthfully, although liking the plot of Omori much more.
"I like Ace Attorney and Edgeworth, so let's play!" Hajime smiled.
Just a few minutes later, and Hajime was already cussing a character out through his teeth.
"I don't like her! She looks like a carbon copy of you, Chiaki, and not in the good way! I already suspect her! Besides, look at her uniform!" Hajime complained, not minding the revealed breast of Cammy Meele, nor the way Nagito had long been buried in the bedsheets.
"Yeah. I bet she's seducing the pilot, or at least someone," Chiaki agreed.
-
"Look, look! Called it! She was totally lying through her teeth!"
"Yeah... you did..." Chiaki yawned out.
"Did you figure out their name puns?" Nagito said, his voice muffled by the comforter.
"I only found out Rhoda's. Her name is Rhoda Teneiro, and at first, I thought I was misreading it. Then I remembered that the puns are usually just the names said really fast, so I said it really fast in my head," Hajime explained in one breath.
"...So...what is it?" Chiaki asked.
"Road too narrow. It's probably because of the way she doesn't take things into consideration, and is hard-headed, allowing her character to be pretty stubborn," Hajime concluded.
Nagito let out a small "oh," at the observation.
Chiaki merely nodded, but then gasped.
"Hajime! She's not gonna follow Edgeworth to the next chapter!" She whined, wiping non-existent tears from her cheeks.
"Nooooo! I knew she was dedicated, but she could've at least stayed! She was my favorite!" Hajime whined.
"Rhoda?" Nagito questioned.
"Yes!" They both said at the same time.
"Haha! I suppose it is her dedication, if not anything else," Nagito responded sheepishly.
"I like her because she's like a sister to Edgeworth," Hajime exclaimed, his eyes shining.
"I just like her," Chiaki shrugged.
"In that chapter, I think my favorite has to be Franziska."
"Fair. She's my second favorite, and I don't know why I'm agreeing with you. She's not solely connected to that chapter," Hajime rolled his eyes.
"She's still quite the character. Can you blame me?" Nagito asked.
"Nope."
"You guys wanna finish the third chapter before we go to sleep?" Chiaki question the two.
"What?" Hajime asked incredulously.
"It's almost 7. We skipped dinner."
"Ah, then of course! It is quite to honor to stay a bit longer, Nanami-san!" Nagito said happily.
With that, they moved onto the most trippiest case ever.
