Sophie was training her punches with Furlan like always. She was now very good at delivering them and it amused Furlan greately, seeing her smiling whenever she executed her moves right. "We shall move to kicking now, alright?" he said one day, massaging his cheeks.
"Alright" she giggled. "I don't want to ruin your face" she cooed and got on top of her toes to press a kiss on his cheek where her hand punched him before. He blushed when she did it and she absolutely adored his reaction. Even though it's been months since she kissed him for the first time he still reacted the same way and it made her happy. It still felt unreal for her though. Man who wasn't forcing her to do anything? Man who still wanted her and didn't care for how ugly she was now because of her scars. He didn't see them but he was smart. He was guiding her through the healing process after all, he knew for sure how ugly her body was know and yet he wasn't disgusted by her.
"You're a pretty girl my darling" Sophie's grandma said one day while she was brushing her golden hair. It was so soothing and Sophie smiled hearing that compliment. Unfortunately, it was just the beginning of her grandma's speech. "It will be both your blessing and curse".
She didn't understand it back then but soon she found out the meaning behind her words and how true they were. It made her love and hate her appearance at the same time so it was refreshing now to feel ugly, to be ugly. Maybe that's why Furlan didn't force her to do things with her that she wasn't ready for yet? No. Furlan's not like that. He's a pure gold who just happened to be raised in a shitty place. Damn, how was it possible that he was such a good person? Both her and Levi seemed completely consumed by Underground's awfulness. If it wasn't for Furlan she would definitely sneak in the night to the kitchen area and gulp on that alcohol. Luckily, she didn't have to now. Furlan was keeping her away from her bitter thoughts at all times. How was Levi making it through his days without any poison? She didn't know the answer. Even though they were living together under the same rooftop for months now, they haven't talk much. He was avoiding her and the feeling was mutual. Whenever they were interacting with each other it was harsh and full of pungent words. Furlan was trying to help them communicate with each other but after a month of failure he dropped the subject much to his own discontent. But there was nothing to help them improve their relations, right?
"Done with your bullshit?" Levi grunted at them bringing their attention back at him. They didn't even realise that he was in the room which made them both embarrassed. He didn't care though, he was barely looking at them focused instead on cleaning his knife. He got used to being unnoticed by them in his own house. "We got a job to do soon"
"Sorry Levi we-" Furlan tried to say something but Sophie cut in. Of course she did.
"Why are you sorry?" she asked Furlan and then immediately turned to Levi. "We're just being ourselves. Fucking relax for one day?" she growled at him, narrowing her eyebrows and focusing his eyes on his. He looked at her and saw the sparkle of anger in her eyes which both infuriated him and made sad. Again the chest pain that was getting normal at this point for him. Whenever he was talking with her he felt that anger that was spilling through his whole chest and he hated that she had the power to bring him to such emotions. No, he hated the fact that she was making him feel anything.
"Stay away from any feelings boy" Kenny said to him while they were resting in the local tavern. It was the first time he bought a beer for him. Now it got served to them and Levi cagily took a mug to his hand and sipped a little liquid, coughing immediately and making Kenny burst in laughter. "Oi, take it slow kiddo. There's no competition yet. You'll get used to this pig piss" he said and Levi nodded. He felt how his face was turning red. He hated to be laughed at. He just wanted to make that man proud of him. Was it too much to ask for? "Anyways, feelings your worst enemy"
