"Oi," she heard Levi's voice next to her. She was so invested in whatever was going on down there that she didn't even notice when he joined her on the rooftop. He supported her back as she laid limply in his arms. "Soph," he said with a warning in his voice, yet affectionately at the same time. He was the only person that could combine those two things so perfectly. She slowly opened her eyes and collected herself. "What's happening?" he asked when she seemed to be present.
"I don't know. I just felt...overwhelmed" she mumbled. She looked down on the street to check what was going on, but much to her surprise those teenagers weren't there anymore. Instead she saw a skeleton of the same titan that had that boy inside. "What's going on?" she asked confusedly. How long was she out of control?!
"Erwin intervened," Levi said quickly. "Look," he pointed with his head at the place where the colossal titan made a hole. Her eyes widened as she saw that same weird titan, only this time it was carrying a massive boulder straight into the place where the breach was made.
"How...what...is this thing helping us?!" she asked. She was completely puzzled with whatever was going on.
"It is," he said curtly.
"Erwin made him? How?!" she couldn't find sense in his words. Nothing made sense right now. She had a hard time focusing as she could still hear an echo of a voice that she had never heard before. Don't fear it. Don't fear it. She shook her head as if it was going to help her get rid of that annoying, unfamiliar sound inside her head. Levi arched his eyebrow in question, not sure what she was doing.
"Apparently one of the cadets was inside of it. I don't know much myself. At least not yet" he frowned. She nodded, acknowledging his words. She tried to search for Erwin, but she couldn't notice him anywhere near. "Erwin's assecurating the titan boy," Levi explained, knowing exactly who she was thinking about. "We have to be careful with him"
Don't fear it, she heard again and shook her head harder, making Levi frown even more. "Oi, what's going on?" he called and she shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't know. My head hurts"
He looked even more concerned right now. Did she hurt herself? He hated the thought of it as it would mean that he didn't protect her the way he was supposed to. "You should get out of here," he said.
"What? No!" she opposed. She didn't want to hear a single word about it. She was not going to leave him there. Just before she fainted she was worried that she lost him out of her sight. She couldn't take another who-knows-how-many hours without him, waiting to get information whether he's okay. No, it wasn't for her. She needed to be with him. Separation was out of option.
"Tsk, I don't need you to be caught by those shitheads" he grunted and she felt offended.
He assumed that she was going to be caught. People with bad skills get caught, right? Was Levi thinking her skills weren't good enough? Just the thought of it filled her with anger. She clenched her hand on the blade, ready to cut him. She would leave such a pretty scar on his face. No! How could she think like that?! She shook her head again and took a step back which made him puzzled.
He took a step forward, but she shook her head again. "Soph, what the fuck are you doing?" he clicked his tongue, irritated with whatever kind of shit she was trying to pull off right now. "We don't have time," he reminded her. "Titan kid is going to plug this hole and we have to wipe out shitheads out of here," he explained Erwin's plan to her, hoping that it would resonate with her, but it didn't. She continued to step back from him, almost as if she wanted to push him away. It hurt. But it also irritated the shit out of him.
