George's POV
The next morning, we all sat at breakfast, conversing just as always with Althea in between Fred and me - things were back to normal.
"...After the game, celebratory party in Gryffindor," Lee announced, despite the game not yet having been played.
"Hufflepuff is going to win, and I say this with full knowledge that my boyfriend is on the other team." I would be trying to prove her wrong had it been anyone else, but she just looked so beautiful that I couldn't help but watch her with the most adoring eyes.
"Hufflepuff is shit compared to Gryffindor dumbass." Lee had to know that insulting her with anything in relation to her mind just proved his own stupidity, and it seemed as if she knew the fact as her eyes calculated something before she smirked slyly. What did she think of this time?
"If we're talking seeker's alone then, of course, Gryffindor is at advantage. But, you forgetful little ass, we're missing a chaser and beater."
"Angelina's the only one out smartass." She leaned forward, her expression not faltering, and I could just see the gears turning in her head.
"The Chaser's brooms for Gryffindor go at 81.5 km per hour; Hufflepuff is at 79.7. Watching past games, I've noticed that Fred's playing slows down to approximately 76 when Ang is mad at him and 71 when she's hurt. With her lack of replacement and his inability to compartmentalize, Hufflepuff's at advantage, therefore, party at theirs." I have no idea why she even thought of calculating the precise speed of the Quidditch players, and how she could do so in the first place, but fuck was it impressive. Maybe she did it all to eventually use on Lee in the far future - it wouldn't surprise me that she planned for something that might not even occur - no matter the reason, she so far had the winning argument.
"You're fibbing," Lee said in complete denial of her words, although now that I think about it, Fred does slow down significantly when Ang isn't in top shape. "I call bullshit." He seemed confident in the way he spoke, but after knowing him for years, I knew that if he doesn't challenge a bet after the opposing party has stated their reasons, he has nothing.
Althea might not have known, but she was by far the most competitive girl I knew, and I could tell she wouldn't be backing down. "I think you know I'm right, so just admit it and we can forget about it." I found it funny that even Fred hadn't argued her point on his playing because he knew it was true. I understood though and didn't blame him. When Althea isn't alright my playing isn't at its best either.
"Gryffindor is going to win Theia, and when they do, you're going to be the one to announce it." He said cockily, pretending to be on his mighty high horse just as always. Lee just couldn't accept the fact that she was one step ahead of him and that he couldn't win this one.
"Well then don't be a little bitch, Jordan, and let's call a bet." Being raised in a large family does change a person; for me, it made me more open to compromise and acceptance, to her, it rendered her incapable to stand down - making her into the strongest girl I know. This trait of hers, however, does not accommodate guys who have never had their judgment challenged.
"You're on." I heard the sliver of hesitance before he spoke and knew that he wouldn't stand a chance. "Money or Matter?" This is what they said before every bet placed, and it essentially meant that the loser either had to pay the winner in currency or in actions mandated in the terms.
"Matter." She said with absolutely no hesitation, which made me wonder why she didn't pick to be paid for her earning. She could've made a good sum, what with Lee's inability to accept the fact that she was right, no matter the stakes he would've bet quite a bit.
