There was only so much time a kid in Monaco could go without any substances. Now, I was a smart girl, but sometimes you need a little kick.

I was currently at this brunch with another influential family I couldn't give two shits about. Leaving the group to go get myself another glass of white wine - my third of the morning -, I sat at the bar, looking over the view of Monte Carlo in its pride and glory.

I had the biggest migraine and was exhausted from my third sleepless night when the infamous Jacques Bernard slid into the seat next to me. The public knew him for being the son of the man who is the head of the Monaco Grand Prix, but the children of the wealthiest people knew him for one thing and one thing only - cocaine.

The boy was a walking advertisement for the substance and was the main dealer to all of us. Like me, all of these kids travel around the world to accompany their parents to stupid elitist events. By coincidence, Jacques happens to be at every single one of these events.

The boy is cunning beyond compare. Although his trust fund is in the tens of millions, he has probably made himself double what is waiting for him when he turns 21 with his business. I can't name one kid from our society who has not sampled his product. You might be thinking, what about Elise, what about the kids that are a part of the Royal Family? Yup! Elise has had her fair share when abroad, and those kids would have some in the school bathroom.

Jacques had this international network, exclusive only to the children of these wealthy bastards, and was by far the most successful businessman of our generation. He had this charm to him, this sense of humour that made his intelligence clear, the old money white boy look that attracted everyone, and the reputation of his father to back him up. The boy was untouchable, and one of my personal favourites.

"Ah, my beautiful Althea." He sighed charmingly, flirting with me as a joke like he always did. Jacques was by far my favourite person in the 'muggle' world besides Elise. We were the closest of friends and alliances, and seeing him now temporarily relieved me.

"Oh, my valiant Jacques." I sighed while giggling, taking a sip of my wine as I turned in my seat to face him. "It's been a while, what have you been up to?" I asked him while combing his hair back, knowing that his father would get upset if he saw those strands falling over his face.

"You know, business as usual." He replied coyly, knowing that if there was someone who knew what his 'business' was, it was me. I practically launched the boy. "I almost got shipped off in October, but since then, nothing's changed." 'Shipped off' is what everyone said when they referred to when their parents sent them to Swiss boarding school and was a funny way of romanticizing being ostracized from the society you hated yet knew as family. "And how has my beloved business partner been doing?"

I rolled my eyes and laughed whenever he referred to me as his business partner because, although I basically was back then, being known as a coke dealer was not perfect for the image, you know? "She is dying inside, slowly but surely." I laughed out before downing the rest of my drink.

"Ah, the joys of living."

I laughed at his sarcastic comment, "But before Monaco, she was doing exceptionally." He got himself a drink and another one for me too, both of us inspiring the alcoholic in the other.

"She was doing exceptionally well without my lovely contributions?" He asked, taking a massive gulp of his scotch as I drank half my glass at one time, both of us drowning ourselves in alcohol. I nodded with a prideful smile, to which he responded with, "Sweetheart, I am so proud."

"I knew you would be." I smiled as we clinked our glasses and finished them together.

"And what did ensure that you survived 'exceptionally'?" He knew everything I used to take to be 'good', so I could tell that hearing me deliver good news made him happy.
