After breakfast that morning, we all went to the Gryffindor common room - Me to craft the twin's prank for the day and the others to get ready for their plans for the day. Elise was going to hang out with Cedric, Lee with Alicia, and Roya and Angelina were going shopping.
At the moment, I was staring down at my developing potion, observing the subtle changes of the dark green liquid turning turquoise. Glancing from the potions book laid out before me to the boiling cauldron, I carefully studied the ingredients and their corresponding measurements, confirming my work.
"So this is going to..." Fred asked, sending me out of my focus and up to him and George watching me intently. I began stirring the potion with my left hand, pouring ingredients with my right, and with wandless magic, flipped the book pages, all while looking at the twins.
"You put this in Snape's pumpkin juice tomorrow night and it will dissolve and be tasteless. When he drinks it, his greasy-ass hair will be as dry as straw and be all frizzy. That was the plan right?" I asked vaguely as I brought my focus back to my multitasking, ensuring that the potion was done right to guarantee its success. I had to make sure that it had no taste and would be clear in whichever solvent the twins added it in, a task only achievable by close attention.
"Why not tonight?" Fred asked, no, whined, like the annoying child he is.
"Because, you insufferable arse, the potion needs to develop." \
When I was sure I was done, I poured the turquoise-colored liquid into a clear vial for the twins to take care of, and before I could go back to the cauldron, George was already taking care of it. "Georgie what did I tell you? I forgave you last year you don't have to keep doing this for me." Since that one accident at the beginning of the year last year, George had never once let me touch another cauldron after a potion, and though it was a thoughtful action I knew that for some reason he still felt guilty.
"Love, all I'm doing is keeping my promise." He gave me a quick kiss before sending the cauldron back into the place in the closet designated for our pranks as it was concealed with many layers of invisibility charms on the off case that someone was to find it.
"Oh yeah, I remember that! George here thought he killed you." Fred chirped his twin brother, earning a slap on the back of the head by George who took my palm into his hands, inspecting it as he always did. He had told me that he hated having hurt me, and often checked for scars just in case which he never found.
"Ok, rock paper scissors for who's testing the potion." I began. A tradition we always did before doing a prank. "Rock. Paper. Scissors. SHOOT!" I called out as I lay rock and George and Fred both played scissors. I was used to them being so on synch that their choices and movements mirrored each other unknowingly. They both turned to face each other, and with another countdown Fred lay rock and George paper, making Fred begrudgingly take the sample of the potion I had left for one of us to take. George pulled me by my hands into his arms so that he could hug me from behind, something he liked to do as he had a complete hold on me, satisfying his separation anxiety. "Go on fireboy." I encouraged Fred who looked disgustingly at the dark liquid, "It won't taste like anything you dimwit." This was all it took for him to toss the small sample liquid back as if it were a shot and after a few silent anticipating moments, his healthy red hair rose and became as dry as a crisp.
He brought a hand up to his head and as he patted down on his crispy red hair it emitted a loud cracking noise "That's dry alright." George smirked, "Thank you, darling."
"Wait- Undo it!" Fred said semi-anxiously as George and I grinned, making me slap my hand over my mouth to muffle the incoming wave of laughter at Fred's appearance. Slipping out of George's arms, I grabbed my wand on the wooden table to my right, and with a flick, his hair was back to normal. He sighed in relief, touching his hair to make are that the effects of the potion were gone.
