“Weird,” Can whispered as he paused in front of the shop window, his brows furrowed at the reflection shining as the sunlight hit it. Something felt odd with him. Could it be because he got off his appointment with his therapist earlier than usual? Or was it because he’d been roaming around the area for three hours now and he still hadn’t landed a job yet? Not that finding a job had ever been easy before.
A smug grin was plastered on his face despite the hot weather. He could actually feel the sun smiling from its warmth on his skin. The breeze was just right and everywhere he looked, there was life glowing from every little thing. Could it be because of the cold feeling of the ring on his right hand? Or was he just becoming a fool?
“Whatever,” he dismissed as he shook his head. There was no point scolding himself for feeling this way.
If anything, things had rather been peaceful for the last two months. The news about Tin and Carla’s engagement died off after some time. It had been the toughest month for him and Ley as paparazzi followed them wherever they went. Some even go to the extent of trying to barge inside their house that they had to move to Tin’s house to avoid them. Thankfully, another controversy about a politician surfaced and reporters decided they were so over them and wanted new juicy gossips. He would never understand why those people desperately tried to be nosy.
Carla and Paul flew to Australia with new identities. They hadn’t been in contact with each other for safety precautions since Carla’s parents were still trying to find her but couldn’t because of Tin’s connections. It shocked him to know Paul was the father of Carla’s child. Things escalated quickly he didn’t even have the chance to ask them how or when they started dating or if they were even dating.
Carla’s parents couldn’t do much trouble for Tin because his company was a big help for their company. Things he couldn’t quite understand. But one thing’s for sure, Paul and Carla were safe now. Few months more and their child would be born. It was a shame he couldn’t see their child as soon as it came out. But he could wait.
“I’ll go fetch Ley now. Their class would be over soon.”

Can smiled as he lowered his phone to get on the bus. Pete called him and invited them to go to the mall with the kids. It had been their little habit, fetching the kids and going some place to relax and unwind. They had gotten inevitably closer with each other because of it. The only downside of being with Pete was the recurring problem of who was going to pay for their meal. Pete always insisted he would pay for everything but it just doesn’t sit right for him. In the end, they’d arrived to an agreement, a schedule.
Today was his schedule to pay for their meal. Now that he still couldn’t find a job, the money he’d been spending came from his savings. Well, it wasn’t really quite a problem now. He’d saved a big sum from being Carla’s driver, he already paid all his debt to Paul, and Tin was the one paying for Ley’s school expenses. The only thing he’s paying for was his therapy sessions. He planned to get a Nanny for Ley once he found a job, but until then, he would take care of Ley.
