It was a normal day at the Shimura household. (F/N) was braiding Kagura's hair, Tae and the yato girl were snacking on Baagen-Dash, and Shinpachi was in the corner, humming to himself as he listened to Otsu's new album. All was good. All was peaceful.
Until Gintoki came barging into the room.
"It's a miracle!"
(F/N) looked up, wondering what exactly that man would consider a miracle. The others turned to him, as well, some wary, some curious, and that's when Gintoki held up two scraps of paper, a triumphant smile on his face.
"The pachinko gods have smiled on me!"
"How?" Kagura asked, pinky up her nose. "By giving you confetti?"
"Not confetti!" Gin snapped, waving the papers in her face. "Look! They're tickets! Tickets for a two-week trip all around Japan!"
Everyone's jaws dropped, and Gin held out his arms.
"That's right! Bow down to me!"
Kagura and Shinpachi got on their knees, all too eager to grovel at his feet. (F/N) and Tae, however, remained where they were, and exchanged a glance. It seemed the tree idiots hadn't figured out the problem.
"This is amazing, Gin!" Shinpachi exclaimed. "When's the trip going to be?"
"A week from today," Gin answered. "We had a job then, but I made sure to cancel just for this."
"Determined as usual to provide your customers with the best possible service, I see," (F/N) muttered.
No one paid her any heed. By then, the room was filled with the sounds of eager planning. Kagura began listing all the foods she wanted to eat along the way. Gin jotted down every money-making opportunity he could think of in the entire country. Shinpachi began looking up the locations of next month's Otsu concerts. Everyone was happy. Too happy. Something needed to go wrong, and (F/N) was all too happy to provide.
"Um, guys," she said, "you do realize there are only two tickets, right?"
The Yorozuya froze. They looked from the tickets, to each other, and (F/N) scooted back a few inches.
"Um..." Gin cleared his throat. "As the one who won the trip, I think I should get the first ticket."
"And as the cutest member of the group," Kagura added, "I think I should get the first ticket."
"Now, now," Shinpachi said, "I'm sure we can solve this diplomatically. Let's draw straws, and then—"
"Rock, paper, scissors!"
There was a flash of movement. Gin and Kagura put down ridiculous signs, grabbed the tickets, and ran.
"Haha, we won!" Gin shouted, scrambling to the door. "See you later, Pachi!"
"Hell no!" Shinpachi screamed, grabbing their ankles. "Get back here, you—"
Gin and Kagura fell to the ground. There was a moment of silence, and they turned to Shinpachi, eyes glowing. His face contorted in horror, and a second later, the whole room erupted into a bloody brawl.
Meanwhile, (F/N) and Tae remained on the sidelines, sipping their tea, and watching the chaos overtake their friends.
"My, my," Tae said, "things are getting pretty violent, aren't they?"
"Sure are," (F/N) muttered. "Wish I could say I thought it would turn out differently. Want to find a quieter place to sit?"
"Yes, let's. If they get too rowdy, I'll use the anti-stalker laser on them."
