"Nayeon!"

The second that your girlfriend heard the panic in your voice, she came out of the bathroom to see what you needed.

"What is it, baby?"

She ran the towel through her long damp hair as she fixed her baggy shirt and the strings on her sweats.

Then, she noticed that you still had yours wrapped around your body as you frantically searched for your inhaler.

After a long day for both of you, a nice relaxing shower sounded like the best way to unwind and relax.

It was comforting; not just because the water was warm and it felt nice against your skin but because you got to spend time with Nayeon in such an intimate way, which you needed so much.

But when you stepped out of the shower you noticed how tight your lungs felt.

It was hard to breathe so you decided to return to the bedroom and search for your inhaler, only for your heart to drop when you realized that you had no idea where you had put it.

"I can't find my inhaler."

She tossed her towel into the laundry basket before she started to help you look for it but the second she heard you wheezing as you struggled to get air into your lungs, she began to panic too.

"I don't know where it is!" You said, taking a few seconds to get the words out as you tried to breathe.

"Do you want me to look for it, baby?" She asked with a soft and comforting voice before brushing her hand across your back.

"I don't know if we'll find it soon enough." You said. "I can't breathe."

"Do you want me to take you to the hospital?"

"Can you call an ambulance? I'm scared."

She got up and grabbed her phone before calling for help.

It took a few seconds to give them the address and explain the situation but she felt relieved when she heard that the ambulance was on its way and would arrive soon.

"Stay right here." She said as she helped you sit on the edge of the bed.

She went to the closet and grabbed some clean clothes for you and after helping you get into them, she tossed the towel into the basket and began to comfort you.

"Hang in there, my love. Keep breathing the best you can."

She paused and kept her worried eyes on you to be sure that your lips didn't turn blue.

"Dammit. Where is the ambulance?"

She took your hands into hers and held them tight, encouraging you to squeeze them.

"I'll see if I can find your inhaler. Maybe it's downstairs somewhere."

You just shook your head and held her hands tighter.

There wasn't enough air in your lungs to ask her to stay but you didn't have to.

She wasn't going to leave your side, not when your asthma attack was getting worse.

Just then, she heard the sirens as the ambulance approached the house.

"Breathe, baby. I know it's hard but you have to hang in there. It's going to be okay, just breathe the best you can."

The EMTs hurried up the stairs and after evaluating the situation that was only getting worse, they put you on a gurney and carried it down the stairs as Nayeon followed behind.

"Can I come with her?"

They allowed her to get in the ambulance and did what they could to help you breathe until you arrived at the hospital a few minutes later.

It wasn't that scary from that point forward.

You and Nayeon both felt safer since you were at the hospital now, hooked up to a few monitors as doctors and nurses cared for you.

"I'm sure since you have bad asthma that this isn't the first time you've had one of these." A nurse said as she brought a nebulizer into the room.

You shook your head and grabbed the mouthpiece that she held out for you before placing it into your mouth to breathe in the medicine coming through it.

"You should begin to feel better soon. If you need anything, just call out for someone. But this is going to help."

"Thank you!" Nayeon said before brushing her fingers across your arm.

She listened as you breathed the medicine into your lungs which felt less tight now.

"You're looking better."

You mumbled a thank you into the mouthpiece and she kissed your arm softly.

"You don't need to thank me, my baby. I'm going to hunt for that inhaler tonight when we get home to make sure that you have it. I'm going to drill it into your head that you have to remember to keep it on the nightstand. It's the best place to put it so we can easily find it."

You nodded and put your head back as relief began to rush over you.

Nayeon could only imagine how scary it was to not be able to breathe and how refreshing it must feel to get air into your lungs after something like an asthma attack.

"I'm just happy that you're okay."

"Me too. Thank you for being here for me. For holding my hand and calming me down. I don't know what I'd do without you."

She brought your free hand to her lips for a kiss then put the mouthpiece back into your mouth.

"I love you and I'll always be here for you. You don't ever have to worry. I wouldn't ever let anything happen to you. Now, keep breathing that medicine in so we can go home soon. You deserve a night full of cuddles tonight."

Your eyes lit up at the idea before you wrapped your fingers around hers.

Not only did you feel like you could breathe now but Nayeon did too because she knew that you were safe and sound now.

And she was going to be sure to find your inhaler for you when you got home so you didn't have to worry about going through this again anytime soon.
