There is a point where all things come to meet, a sort of equalizer. You can think of it as a resting place; a meeting point, like coming home to your bed after a long day, peace, tranquility, calm, and rest. It is the closest way to describe how Rukkayya now felt. She was not in paradise, no, but a kind of blissful normalcy came over her once tumultuous life.

Now eight months along, her tummy is quite visible to anyone who looks close enough. Nonetheless, Rukkayya kept trying to hide it, her style was altered to fit her now protruding stomach. Thankfully, she was still able to conceal it to her content - not that her bulging nose didn't give her away, that really bothered her, she had raised the issue with Ahmad a couple of times.

"Albi, just take a look at my nose," She would say, the displeasure evident in her voice. "I look so ugly."

Ahmad never agreed with her on that. She was pregnant, of course her body was going through changes, she was not the same 'Dimples' but it didn't matter to him. She was still one of the strongest, most beautiful women he knew.

"Albi, do you still want me at all? I'm so fat and ugly," She would moan close to tears.

Yeah, the pregnancy hormones were quite...wild.

"Haba Dimples," Ahmad starts, cupping her face. "You are my better half, my stronger half. I will not trade you for anything in this life."

She listens to him with a smile on her face but as Ahmad had come to learn, her insecurities were not that easily calmed.

"You're just being nice to me, I won't believe a word you say." She would then turn her cheeks away and start sulking. It would take minutes to persuade her. This made Ahmad wonder how she coped in the emporium, no, scratch that. It made him wonder how people coped with her. He had reduced his work load at the office so he could spend time with her though he almost regrets it everyday, 'almost.'

There was one day he woke up to her sobs, initially he thought it was a dream but the cries sounded so real. He forced his eyes open, the first thing he saw was her, crumpled up by the foot of his couch, tears streaming down both cheeks.

Ahmad jumped up rushing to her side. "Rukkayya what's wrong?"
He should have known it was the hormones at play but he was too on edge to stay calm.

"Haba, Habaa! I wasn't able to sleep, Mama Atika went on an errand with the girls and you've been sleeping since morning. I'm so lonely, this house is just too big!"

Ahmad felt like screaming but he dared not. Mammy would have his head. Instead, he took a deep breath without falling in to the temptation of rolling his eyes.

"I'm so sorry Dimples, I'm sorry I made you cry but you should have woken me instead." Ahmad pulls her to him gently patting her back. Few minutes later she had fallen in to a deep sleep. Ahmad stares at her in amusement.

The pregnancy hormones had made her such a handful, despite how insane she drove him, his heart swelled out of pure love. Just like that day, few months back when they had gone for an ultrasound scan, the doctor's announcement coupled with the screen that stared back at them was scary. They were both overwhelmed also insanely in love with the miracle growing within her.
