I was born on the 14th of August when the wind was humid and the sands were damp from the heavy downpour. I was told it rained cats and dogs on that day . They said it signified a blessed day and I was 'special'. Which day isn't blessed?

I would use that information to my advantage most times but I didn't really believe there was anything special about me. It was a bit cliche.

Nana forcibly enrolled me in a four weeks continental culinary class much to my dismay. It was her 'early birthday gift' to me, she even added that I would thank her for it someday. I felt insulted because I was quite a good cook.

Albeit after attending my first class, I realized that I wasn't as good as I thought I was. The chefs introduced me to kitchen equipments that I had never heard about in my whole life. It was so fascinating.

Frankly, the classes also gave me something else to do apart from wonder about my fate.

I had not made any special plans for my birthday. I just wanted to spend the day curled up in my room with my thoughts.

That was a first, I usually taxed all my siblings before my birthday. I suddenly lost interest in all that. I just lied down and contemplated my whole existence.

It was a quiet day until I got a phone call at 10am saying I had a delivery. I was taken aback because I had not ordered anything online. Nevertheless, I went to the gate to check it out.

"Madam, are you Miss Rukkayya Nasir?" The delivery guy asked.

I nodded.

"There is a delivery for you, if you could just sign this," He handed me a book.

I reluctantly collected the book because I felt it was all a mistake. When I saw the logo on the book however, all my doubts got cleared. I would recognize that logo anywhere. It was an M intertwined with an E signifying Modibbo Enterprises.

The delivery left me gaping for what seemed like an eternity. Three men emerged from a van that I had not noticed before carrying boxes of different sizes. I just stood there looking at them like some stupefied troll till they spoke up.

"Madam where do we drop these?"

I snapped out of my trance then and opened the door to the living room.

I motioned to the center table where they dropped the boxes. I was still watching the boxes when one of the men came back with a gift bag.

I was dumbfounded.

"Rukkayya what is going on?" Mummy asked from her room.

"Mummy come and see," I said.

"What is it?" She asked. She had that no chill habit. She still asked even though I knew she was on her way to the living room.
