After what seemed like a lifetime, Ya Ahmad slowly pulls away brows drawing together.

"I don't understand.." Ahmad trails off.
I would be confused too if I were him.

"How are you?"

I needed to know...May be I haven't been asking him that as often as I should have.

Ya Ahmad tilts his head to one side. "I don't get it...Are you not upset? I've been away for.."

"No, I understand that you needed space..I understand that."

"You don't hate me?"

We are one strange couple...There I was thinking he hated me and here he is asking me the same.

I smile. "No, never."

Gods knows there is so much concealed under those two words...so much that I can't even explain to myself.

He keeps looking at me as if he couldn't believe I was real, like I am some sort of mystery that fell off the roofing of the huge house.

"Are you sure?"

"I just have one request."

He takes a step back his eyes never leaving me. He slips one hand in to his pocket.

"Lets hear it."

"If ever you need space, if this house feels too stuffy, too big or too crowded, take me along with you; If you want me to be quiet, I'll stay mute, If you want me to talk, I'll talk your ears off, If you want to be alone, I'll try to be invisible. Just carry me along with you, I can't handle that much space...I thought you..It wasn't nice."

"I was going through...Ummm...I'm sorry!"

"Have you eaten?" I blurt just as the thought came to me. I had dinner at Haneefah's because I was unsure of the state I'd meet him in and how to help him. There were so many questions left unasked. Had he been waiting for long? What was he thinking?

He looked taken aback once again.
You're in for a ride Mister.

"I ate a while ago," he replies but the puzzle in his eyes is still apparent.

"I'm sorry I over stayed at Haneefah's, I didn't think you'd be home."

He passes a hand through the black curly waves, moving a step closer to me. My heart picks up instantly. "I'm sorry Dimple, I didn't mean to disappear on you."
