Distractions...minute pests that creep in to ones mind and never let go till they manifest in to large hungry demons.  Enemy of man's success I would say. From another perspective I would say that makes us human. The ability to lose focus...a weakness. Isn't that what we are? Weak creatures convinced we are the smartest of them all.

If ever I say, "I don't have much work," its just a flimsy excuse as it is a myth. The heir to Modibbo Enterprises never has nothing to do...There is always something to be done only If I procrastinate on it. Sometimes I imagine what my life would be like had we didn't own ME and we were raised in a small village in Bauchi or even Adamawa, Mammy's hometown. I doubt the day to day activities of the farm could ever be as challenging as dealing with so called 'sophisticated business men'. Majority of them make up the most greedy, power hungry people I have ever met. Which is why, I endeavour to always ask of my creator in every prayer never to end up like them.

Another distraction, to free me from my actual distraction. Is there really a way out of this? I release a breath I didn't know I was holding. No, there is no point. Like I mentioned previously, I can procrastinate my work...Its a free world...some of the time. Who am I to utter the 'free world' crap when Abba summons me?

I pick up the receiver and dial my secretary.

"Yes sir."

"Get me Mustapha." The man I'd parted with less than 15 minutes ago. I wonder what he would think of how funny I am acting. I was still thinking about that when I heard a soft knock on my door. The man is so fast sometimes I wonder if he's human.

"Come in."

"What do you need sir?"

How I wish there was a simple way of answering that.

"I am going to pick my wife up and I'm not sure I'd be back so take care of things while I'm gone."

Skillfully delivered! I almost wanted to pat myself on the back except Mustapha that looked like an electrocuted fish.

"Eh?"

I shot a glance at him.

"I meant Ok sir."

I merely resisted the urge to laugh hysterically. I couldn't blame the man over his response. After years of working for someone who always tried to work harder than he should, I'd react in the same way too.

"Aha, When did Rahina say we should come over?"

Mustapha grins. "Whenever is convenient for you sir."
