Silence, they say it speaks louder than words

Silence, they say it speaks louder than words. It fills the void spoken words can not otherwise convey. There is wisdom in it too. However, it is incapable of quenching the thirst of a curious man. The one who would tug at all of its corners just to be absolutely sure, it means what it appears to mean.

"You didn't answer my question," Ahmad states, as they walked in to mansion.

Rukkayya forced a smile. It'd been a long day and well it didn't go how she'd imagined. Ahmad persistently asking the same question wasn't helping matters.

"Thanks for saving me back there."

Huh?

"It didn't look like you needed saving," Rukkayya snapped surprising herself though that wasn't the thing that mystified her, it was that it'd been hours since it happened yet it was still irritating.
Ahmad held her hand making her stop just by the foot of the stairs. "Dimple," he crooned.

"I don't know how it looked but please don't let it get to you. Sadiya was never anything to me, it was Salim's handwork."
Rukkayya had no plans of responding to whatever it was he had to say though "The Casanova?" was out before she could stop herself.

"Yes that one. I was going through..." He paused looking for the right words.

"A phase and he felt that... well that was his way of making me feel better. The so called relationship lasted less than a month although I was more a victim than a participant. She used to call me nothing less than six times a day to talk off my ears, it was so unbearable!" Ahmad laments looking in to the distance with a goofy smile on his face.

It was probably a silly thing to do, somehow by means of God-knows-what, she believed every single word he said.

Again, that wasn't the root of her issues, that face she saw earlier at 'the cake factory', kept haunting her at intervals. It was just a reflection and all she'd ever seen was just a picture but it wasn't a face she would be quick to forget. Haneefah's cover story didn't help matters.

Rukkayya smiles and proceeds up the stairs wordlessly while Ahmad follows her closely smiling mischievously.

Somewhere in her mind, she was reading meanings to everything, even the paths ahead of her at the top of the stairs conveyed some meaning. The west wing by her left leads to Ahmad's room, up ahead leads to the Kitchen and dinning area while her wing was to her right. Each path felt like it lead to one obstacle, his wing held all the things he'd kept buried, ahead lay the unknown number of exes and casual flings and there was she, the helpless one plunged in to a strange world with her mountainous sized lapses.
