The Modibbo's had sent a delegation to deliver the wedding boxes as per tradition two weeks to the wedding date. They were warmly received in the Nasir's residence. The gifts they had brought along with them had people gossiping for weeks afterwards.

It didn't come as a surprise to Sadiya, Rukkayya's mother, she knew such extravagant gift would reach them which was why she especially requested that it was moderated but Fatima Modibbo wouldn't hear of it. Rukkayya had become one of them and everything had to be befitting.

The guests had come in a grand convoy. They had arrived in a spectacular way with ten flashy cars. The party only started when they started off loading their delivery. The delegation that met them was awestruck. It ended up becoming an event itself. The boxes were like nothing they had ever seen.

There were 30 boxes in total - five sets. They included Pierre Cardin, Louis Vuitton, Delsey, and Samsonite.
They contained the highest quality of wrappers, the latest laces, veils, accessories, shoes, bags. It was so delightful for all that witnessed although most of them arrived at the conclusion that the Nasir's were being materialistic.

Much later at night, the young bride to be returned home to people beaming and winking at her. She knew then that what she dreaded must have come to pass. After gaping at the boxes for over a minute, her worries peaked through.

"Mummy won't people call us gold diggers?" Rukkayya had dreaded that, it was one of the things that weighed heavy on her chest.

"Rukkayya people will always talk about you, what matters most is that you do what you believe is right," Sadiya conciliated.

It was all she needed to hear. Truly, she had only consented because of her parents. It was the right thing to do. Although, after meeting her groom to be, she felt convinced that she had made the right choice. Even her elder brothers had spoken well of him and he had proved them right. He kept his promise of calling.

Whenever she was on the phone with him, it had felt to her like they had met naturally and not by their parents forged alliance. Even his six month old broken heart felt insignificant as though only two of them were in the world and that was all that mattered.
