"Love is to give ones heart away, pushing it farther ahead, allowing it to see what the eyes can't and believe what the mind won't understand."

“Ya Ahmad, I can’t help you. She didn't even utter a word, she just sobbed silently. She is in pieces man, this isn’t something I can fix.

Ahmad's stomach drops, a sudden feeling of nausea came. “Oh lord, she didn’t say anything?”

“Not a word.”

“Ya salaam! Haneefah I’m finished! Every second that passes something horrible is going through her mind, making the situation much worse. I don’t know what she’s keeping inside and I don’t even want to think of what she’ll resort to doing.”

“Ya Ahmad hey! Positive thought okay? Only positive ones.  I feel the only way this would end is to talk to her.”

“She won’t listen!”

“Make her listen! Why are you her husband? There is definitely a way you can reach to her. Try all the options, heck exhaust them all and never stop trying. She’ll budge if you persist. Both of you are wilting away without each other. Step up and the man Ya Ahmad. She once looked at you with so much adoration, let her see that goodness in you. Make her want to listen to you dear brother.”

Ahmad sighs. Thanks Hanee, I sincerely appreciate your counsel, I can’t imagine not having you around. ”

Haneefah walks up to him and hugs him, she then whispers “Show her all the love you’re so poor at hiding.”

When Ahmad thought carefully about his plight, he realized that he really hadn’t tried to get her to listen, he simply let her be upset and believe whatever assumptions were obvious based on those hideous photographs… Gosh those photographs! He cringed when he remembered them.

“Thank you so much sis, I appreciate you. Give my love to Basma.”

A month had almost passed since the pictures of Ahmad’s mistakes were displayed on the stairs for him to see. The day the sweetest person he knows stopped smiling at him. The day he realized how big a fool he had been. It was almost a month since he had been on the search for the genesis of his marital problems but she had vanished. He assumed that she had skipped town but he was determined. He would wait for her to make the mistake of returning home.

After fruitlessly searching for her, he had no better choice than to inform his friends; Hammad and Salim, both expressed their disappointments in him in different ways. They were right but it wasn’t their anger that concerned him most. Even Haneefah had been unable to help. The rift between them was getting bigger everyday while he grew helpless.
