Leo POV
Have you ever had a feeling that just feels like you’re just doing to explode? Like you can’t keep it in, and you feel like you just have to push everyone you love behind you and shield them from the bad thing that’s coming?-Whoa, Leo mat, you gotta stop talking to yourself! You’ll go mad!-Ah crap.
“Leo? Are you listening to me?” Phoenix asked, snapping her fingers in front of my face. I nodded lazily, resting my elbows on the handle of the cart my trunk was on. “What did I say?” she challenged me.
“Sumthin’ ‘bout a bird,” I mumbled, flicking my hair out of my eyes. I saw a few Ravenclaw girls look at me a giggle. I smiled at them out of habit, and looked forward again. She rolled her eyes at me.
I went back to my deep thinking. I didn’t like deep thinking. Made me feel like a grown up. An adult. With…Responsibilities. Ew.
“Leo? Leo are you listening to me?” I heard Hermione say shrilly to me. I nodded lazily again and fell into a seat on the train. The only open compartment Hermione could find was with some teacher. He was all raggedy and his cloak was patched in several places.
Ron and Hermione where arguing about something, Harry was having a light conversation with Phoenix as she stroked Hermione’s demon cat, Crookshanks. And me, resting my head on the glass with my arms crossed.
I huffed, and pulled my eyebrows together as I lightly hit my head on the window. I shut my eyes, and thought back. Back as far as I could. Harry told me about how in all those long, sad hours he spent in a cupboard, he could see a bright flash of green light. He always figured it was from the ‘car crash’ now he knew it was the Killing Curse.
When I thought back really hard, I heard people crying. No, not people. A woman and a man. I never could make out what they where saying, but I knew it wasn’t good. I never asked Phee what she heard or saw when she thought back really far. I was supposed to keep her from getting hurt. Physically and emotionally. But I knew when she thought back, whatever she saw, I couldn’t save her from that.
I asked West about that bad gut feeling, he said it was just something that came with the genes. Paranoia. He said as I grew into it I’d get used to it. He also said the rest of our abilities would be coming any day now. I was shocked at the fact that we’d be getting more. I was already having a hard time keeping the blue fire in my hands and not burning my shirt, and Phoenix was having to drink that Desine stuff every night to avoid turning everything into animals. How could we deal with more?
All that deep thinking really knocked me out, and I fell asleep with my head on the glass, the rain lulling me to sleep.
I woke up when I felt a sharp smack on my hand. I jumped and blinked, seeing Phee glaring at me. I shoved her away, and looked around the compartment. Professor Lupin (As Hermione pointed out earlier) was still asleep under his patched coat, Hermione was holding Crookshanks protectively, and Ron was scowling at the door like Harry. Phee had a blank look on her face as she stared at Draco Malfoy and his goons.
“Woke up from your beauty sleep White?” Malfoy asked me sarcastically.
“Well you need it more than I do.” I snapped, fixing the collar on my leather jacket. I found it in a box in West’s attic labeled ‘Black.’ It had a Gryffindor lion on the back, stitched in gold thread.
