Hi! Well, I was going to make this chapter WAY longer, but, I'm just going to post two chapter today, each a bit short.
PS~If you confused about Phoenix being in Slytherin the first time, it'll make sence later. :)
Enjoy!
Phoenix POV
“Hmmm…” The hat had murmured in my ear. “Smart…Extremely so…Oh, quite a knack for animals…My…My so much potential for such a young witch. Ah! And there’s that rebellious streak that your brother had so much of!...No…No to strong-minded to be Hufflepuff…Not quite studious enough for Ravenclaw-SLYTHERIN!” it shouted suddenly.
I felt every pair of eyes on me as the hall lost all sound.
No…No! I had to be with Leo! He-He was the one who stuck up for me! He-He made sure no one stepped all over me! Harry, Ron, Hermione, all my friends where Gryffindors at heart, I was going to be all alone…
“What?” I heard Leo yell, trying to get through the people who had stood.
“She-She can’t be in Slytherin! She’s nice!” Ron yelled, Harry nodded, looking worried as well. I heard a few Slytherins grumbling about how it wasn’t bad I was in their house.
“She’s a mudblood!” I heard Malfoy yell over the noise. The Slytherin table erupted in yells, cuss words, and a few shots of green sparks flew in the air. I felt like crying. I looked up at the Professor who was wide eyed and stunned.
“Stop!” the Hat yelled. The noise only grew.
“SILENCE!” I heard a voice from behind bellow over the noise. The hall was instantly quite. I looked over to see a man with a long white beard and hair, wearing a pair of half-circle glasses standing, leaning on the table in front of hi gold chair at the center of the table. He must be the headmaster.
“Sorting hat, as you where saying,” he said politely, at a normal level.
“Thank you, headmaster,” the hat said nicely. “As I was trying to say, I believe I have rushed the Sorting process with Ms. Adams.” He started.
“We don’t want her!” A Ravenclaw girl a few years older than me yelled. “You never change your mind! She’s a Slytherin!”
The noise grew louder and I cringed at the harsh words being thrown at me. I felt like crying again. I saw Leo send a deadly glare at the Ravenclaw who started the noise again. The hat trid to speak, but the noise was too loud.
“SHUT! UP!” Leo yelled, standing on the benches. “Let the bloody hat talk!”
“Thank you…Leo,” the hat ordered. “But, yes, that is true. I never change my mind. But, I do, however, fix my mistakes. Ms. Adams, or, Phee, as she likes to be called by her friends-” I blushed red as I heard a few boys who were waiting to be sorted snicker at my nickname. “-Is just as mush, if not more, a Gryffindor as her brother.” Leo whooped and Harry grinned with Ron.
“Is that your final choice?” A Hufflepuff snapped harshly.
“Yes, Mr. Hart, it is,” the hat answered smartly. McGonagall chuckled and took the hat off my head. I slowly got up from the stool and walked down the steps. I got a two foot break in the people, like I had some illness or something. Leo caught me in a tight hug, and sat with me next to the red headed twins who we saw telling their mother about Harry.
“This is Fred, and George. Ron’s brothers,” Leo said, trying to be happy. I saw the other Gryffindors staring at me like I was trash.
“Nice to meet you,” they said at the same time. I smiled a bit, and sat with slightly hunched shoulders as I picked at the grains of wood on the table. Whenever I made a dent in it, it fixed right up. I frowned. I felt an arm around my shoulders in a one-armed hug from Harry as he sat next to me.
“It almost put me in Slytherin as well,” he sighed, giving me a smile. I saw the people at our table beaming with pride as they looked at Harry, but they glared at me and Leo.

Me and Leo where walking to the Gryffindor Tower before the feast was done. We were getting so many dirty looks and comments we just decided to leave. He stopped at the trophy case again.
“Harry’s dad played Quidditch,” he sighed blankly, nodding towards a trophy. ‘Quidditch Captain James Potter, 1978’
“Leo?” I asked quietly as we walked through the portrait door.
“Hm?” he asked, like I pulled him from a deep thought.
“Do you think that they’ll like me? After The hat put me in Slytherin the first time?” I asked, stopping at the girls dorms. Leo smiled a goofy smile.
“Yeah yeah I think they will.” He hugged me good night and paused. “Just give it time Phee.” I smiled weakly and walked up to the beds. I fell onto mine, where my trunk was. I crawled into my warm covers after changing out of my uniform and pulled the hair tie out of my ponytail. It fell back and got stuck between the edge of the bed frame and the wall. I reached down and tried to grab the tie. I got it, and pulled it over my wrist. I felt the stiff edge of something. I frowned slightly and reached under my mattress.
I pulled out a letter. It was yellowed, and wrinkled. I flatten it out and read the back, where the name would be.
Waverly Huh, unique.
I looked around the empty dorm and sat up; flicking my wand at the candle like Percy told me to too to light it. I pulled out the paper, and read the messy scrawl.
Hey Wave, miss you. Thought I’d say that first, because I do. I’ll be back soon though, and quit sulking about not being here with me. It’s fine. We weren’t that close anyways. I’m fine.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
Thought I’d make sure you knew…
~Sirius
I saw the ink smudged over the ‘I love you’s in the letter, like someone ran their fingers over them over and over. I smiled at the thought of some boy writing I love you on a letter four times, just to make sure his girlfriend knew.
“Hello Phoenix,” I heard Hermione say, happy as can be.
“Hey, Hermione,” I mumbled pretending to be half asleep as I shoved the letter under my mattress again.
I didn’t think much of it after that.
Leo POV
As I sat in Potions, I was board. Board. Board. BOARD.“Potter…” The greasy haired man trailed off as he read the roll sheet. He looked up.
“Ah, yes, Harry Potter, our new celebrity.” He sneered. I heard Malfoy and his goons’ snicker. I found a rat tail on the floor and flung it at him. He yelped as it hit his face, but quickly controlled his expression before Snape, the grease ball saw.
“You are here to learn the subtle science and exact art of potion-making. As there is little foolish wand waving here, many of you will hardly believe this is magic. I don’t e human veins, expect you will really understand the beauty of the softy shimmering caldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses…I can teach you how to-”
“Dance?” I called out sarcastically, making the whole room erupt in laughter. I leaned back in my chair, smirking at the look of hate I got from Snape.
“Leo…Adams,” he said slowly. “I suggest you smarten up, and learn that with a T in this class you will advance to nothing,” he snapped. I rolled my eyes at him.
“As I was saying, before I was rudely interrupted,” he glanced at me. “I can teach you how to…”
I zoned out. Thinking.
I was in a school, that taught me how to use my Ebony and Phoenix feather wand, and how to fly on a broom, and how to blow up a caldron.
Fred and George taught me the last one. Very useful.
I think I’ll leave Professor McGreasy a surprise…
