Phoenix POV

“L-Leo, I’m not sure about this,” I said, holding tight to his arm as he walked confidently into the girl’s bathroom.

“Who are you?” I heard a loud, shrill voice screech. “Oh…” it said. I saw a ghost girl, with large glasses and her hair in the pigtails.

“’Ello love!” Leo said, grinning at her. “You see a scrawny black haired lad with glasses and a ginger come past here?”

“Harry Potter? And his friend? Well…I may have seen them…” she said, batting her ghostly eyelashes at Leo awkwardly.

“Ah, come on love! We gotta go and help them! There are mates!” Leo said, grinning his crooked grin at the ghost. She did what all girls did when Leo grinned at them. Blinked once, and let out a high giggle.

“They went down the sink,” she said, her eyes looking absolutely huge behind her glasses. “There.” She pointed.

“Thanks love,” Leo said, brushing her off. I rolled my eyes.

“Thank you,” I said honestly as I followed Leo. She floated in front of me.

“Are you his girlfriend?” she asked flatly.

“Ew! No! He’s my brother!” I said, walking around her.

“What about Harry?” she asked again. I stopped.

“N-No,” I mumbled.

I followed Leo, and looked down the whole in the sink.

This year had been taxing on all of us. The new DADA Professor was a quack, kept calling me ‘Waverly.’ Add the stressful training West was putting me and Leo though, I was done. I hadn’t slept in days, and with Harry disappearing the night we were going to study, made me go ask Leo where he was, and he said he was waiting for Ron to go sneak into the kitchen. He found Hermione’s potions book, and the ‘Polyjuice Potion’ was marked, and then he went all Sherlock Holmes on me. He eventually he grabbed me and rattled off this story I hardly believed. Not that Harry’d found You-Know-Who again, but that they didn’t tell us. Hermione, Ron, Harry, they were supposed to be our friends!

“I-” I started.

“GERONIMO!” Leo yelled, jumping down the hole and taking me with him. I let out a high scream as we slid down. Leo whooped and laughed like he was on a ride at an amusement park.

I felt he crunch of the ground beneath me. It was dark, almost pitch black.

“Leo?” I asked.

“On it,” he said, not asking what I was going to ask. His palms lit with a gray/blue fire that danced across his hands and singed his cuffs. Every shirt he had was like that.

I was listening for animals. I felt odd just thinking it.

“Come on,” Leo said, getting up.
