Prompt: Imagine Loki being overprotective of you.

You had grown up in Asgard, and had always wanted to make a name for yourself in battle. Sif had always been a good friend to you, and when she asked if you had wanted to go into battle with Thor's group, you couldn't say no. While all of them were great warriors, you were intrigued by Loki. As opposed to Thor, he thought out his battle strategies and the consequences if the plans failed.

In battle, everyone had to watch each other's backs. It always seemed that Loki would be keeping extra care to watch your back even when you had barely joined. You had put it off to him not wanting the new girl to die during the first battle. You and Loki were often put working together to create battle strategies (which were rarely used, might you add), and became closer. Loki was often the voice of reason in your group, and everyone knew it.

During the years of fighting alongside and planning with Loki, you had begun to fancy him. When exactly it happened, you wouldn't be able to tell. You always believed that you had strictly a friendship with Loki, but Sif always said that he had fancied you too. You weren't able to see it until you one particular battle.

You were in your home, getting ready when Sif had burst in. "What are you doing here Sif?" you asked while pulling your long (hair color) hair up.

"Quick (y/n), Thor was being an idiot again and went off to battle without us," she said hurriedly. You turned quickly, "Let me pull on my armor and then we'll go."

You went to your room, grabbing your body armor and pulling it on quickly. Sif led you to the gate and then you guys went to the planet that Thor, Loki, and the other men in your group were fighting on. The first person you saw was Loki, creating illusions and distracting the enemies. Sif went to go help Thor, who had been surrounded by multiple men.

You fought tactically, never allowing yourself to be outpowered or outwitted. Then, you slipped up. You had been fighting a melee battle, seeing as how you were skilled in fighting with knives and swords, when another enemy came behind you and hit you with his shield. As you were on the ground, the man who had hit you with his shield raised his sword and prepared to plunge it deep into your chest.

Just as you were about to meet your untimely end, you saw Loki run up behind the man and the man fell. As you looked at him, you saw Loki's knife embedded in his flesh. You looked back at Loki, your mouth open in shock. "Loki?" you asked.

"Really (y/n), you need to be more careful. Don't let your guard down," he said before getting his knife back and rushing off again. You shrugged it off, and went back to battle. Your sword gleamed, a shining (favorite color) jewel in the handle, a gift from Sif when you joined the team. You rarely got snuck up on, but when you did, it seemed that either one of Loki's illusions or Loki himself was there, watching your back.

After there was only the enemies' "greatest warrior", which Thor was of course taking on, you and the team stood watching. Loki came and stood next to you, watching his brother quickly end the other being. Before you went to go collect prisoners, you pulled Loki to the side. "Loki, why were you watching me so closely earlier?" you asked him.

"I know I'm being a bit overprotective, but I just wanted to make sure that you would come out of this alive," he admitted sheepishly.

"I also wanted to thank you. If you hadn't intervened, I probably wouldn't even be here," you said seriously. "But, everytime after that, you never let anyone come up behind me. Why?"

Loki brushed a lock of your hair out of your face and behind your ear. "It's just that, well, I've grown attached to you, and it would kill me if you died. Especially if I could have saved you. To be honest, I've fancied you for some time now," he said with a shy smile.

You blushed a deep red, stuttering, "R-really? I-I've fancied you also." Sif saw you two from where she was preparing prisoners for the teleport, and yelled, "Are you two finally together now? We kind of need help collecting prisoners here!" Loki grinned as you yelled for Sif to be quiet.

"So, are we?" Loki asked, looking down so he could look into your eyes.

"I'd say we are," you grinned, staring up at him.

"Great, (y/n), that means I can finally do this," he said as he dipped his head down to kiss you. You could hear the whoops and hollers from the group, Sif and Thor being the loudest ones. As the kiss ended, Loki said, "Just know I'm going to be watching your back in battle even more now that we're together." You smiled and the two of you went to prepare what prisoners were left to be loaded up.

"So, (y/n), is it official now?" Sif asked you as you went to go help her. You smiled softly and she said, "I'll take that as a yes. Is he a good kisser?"

"Sif!" you exclaimed, cheeks burning red.

"Just curious," she shrugged.

When Loki had tried taking over Midgard, you weren't sure what to do. You were either fighting with your best friends against your partner, or with your partner against your best friends. You saw Loki go mad, and he wasn't the same man that you loved. Fighting against him was difficult, as you kept seeing the man on the battlefield that day. After Loki had let go of Thor on the bridge, you were broken apart about it.

When it turned out that Loki wasn't dead, you were ecstatic. Then you found out that he had tried to take over Midgard again. It looked as if you had lost the man that was shy to tell you that he fancied you. You were not there during the Battle of New York, but you were there when Loki was put into the prison. When Loki saw you as he was dragged to the cells, he said just loud enough for you to hear, "I'll still be watching your back, (y/n)."

When Loki was back on your side against the dark elves, you were overjoyed. He told you that he needed to go with Thor and Jane to finish the battle, and that he would be back. He left you with his words and a brief kiss. When Thor came back with only Jane, he told you that Loki had died. You didn't quite believe him. After all, he had cheated death once before, what was stopping him from cheating it again?
