If you guys want to go ahead and skip this one, I don't blame you. I just kinda needed to put my feelings into writing with all of this nonsense. To be honest, this entire thing scares me as a person of color and a member of the LGBT+ community. My brother and I have already been told to leave the country and go back to where we came from by a guy that we've known for almost all of our lives and even considered a friend for a while, and things are just getting worse. This will be the only time you see politics in this book, I swear. I promise I'll write a fluffy imagine right after this so yeah.

Your eyes widened as more and more states turned red. You leaned forward, hands clasped practically in prayer. "Please, don't let him get Florida," you whispered into your hands. You and the rest of the Avengers were sitting in the common room, watching Fox News for solely the election coverage. For most of this election, you and the others have been actively speaking against Trump, especially Steve, seeing as Trump's followers seemed to believe that Steve would be 100% behind him. "If he gets Florida, then she needs to get the all of the other swing states. I've been following the polls, but I'm still not sure."

"Don't worry, darling. I've seen many things while I've been here, but I have enough faith that they won't choose him as your leader," Loki told you, rubbing your shoulder slightly in an attempt to make you feel better. "Perhaps we should change the channel, just for a few minutes."

"I think the Daily Show is on, maybe we should watch that," Clint spoke up, sitting forward and making a grab for the remote, looking to you and Steve for permission. You both nodded, needing some sort of comedic relief, and for once Clint wasn't going to be the one to provide it tonight. He changed the channel, letting Trevor Noah take away the worries for at least an hour. But, it looked like everyone that worked for the Daily Show was just as worried as everyone in the room was. Sure, there were still the jokes and things that made you laugh (Roy Wood Jr. drinking the Pepto the entire time), but there was just a difference in what they were doing. There was a bit of desperation, just like there was in the room. Clint was switching between the two channels, going back to the election coverage whenever the show went to commercial.

"Oh my god," you trailed off, covering your mouth with your hands. Clint had changed back to the election coverage as soon as they were announcing the results for Florida. Trump. 1%. 29 electoral votes. Shit.

"There's still hope. We have Pennsylvania and Ohio that can still go to her," Steve tried to calm you, but he was just as upset as you were, you could tell by the set of his jaw and his clenching fists. Everyone else just looked at the TV in disbelief before Clint changed the channel again.

"Roy's gonna need more Pepto," Tony muttered, his arms crossed over his chest. That drew out a small laugh from everyone, but still a laugh nonetheless, helping to ease a bit of the tension that was hanging heavy in the air. Eventually the show ended, leaving no distraction from what was going on. Ohio was determined first, swinging Republican. Your heart dropped at that, there was no way that Hillary could catch up now, unless she somehow managed to get the rest of the states. There was the little speech from Van Jones, nearly drawing you to tears. Then, it finally happened. At 3 am, the results were in. The results that broke your heart and shocked everyone in the room. President-elect Trump.

"Hey, Loki, you still interested in taking over the world? It honestly doesn't sound that bad now," Tony said as he turned off the TV. There were no laughs, no other jokes, and you weren't even completely sure that Tony was joking.

"I'm going to sleep," you said as you slowly got up, heart feeling empty and just disappointment washing over you. You made your way to your room, just sitting on the edge of the bed with your head cradled in your hands.

"Darling, may I come in?" Loki asked, knocking on your door.

"Go ahead," you told him. You didn't even look up as you heard him enter the room. You felt the dip of the bed beside you, Loki wrapping his arms around you.

"How are you feeling?" he asked, placing a kiss on the top of your head.

"I'm scared. How am I supposed to tell my sobrinos what's going on? How is my brother supposed to tell them that everything's going to change? My mom called me when we were watching the results, you know. My grandma called her in a panic, my grandma's scared too," you told him, the tears falling freely from your eyes now. "Not even just my family, there's so many others that are going through this too. This isn't the America that I grew up knowing."

"I'm not sure what to tell you, I don't know either. From what you've told me, I'm not sure how they've allowed for the hate to overcome them. This coming from someone's whose hate used to define him," Loki said, gesturing slightly to himself. "Perhaps we should get away for a while. Come with me to Asgard, at least for a week or two."

"As much as I want to say yes, I can't. I need to be here for my family," you told him, leaning more into his hold.

"What can I do to help?" Loki asked, an edge of desperation entering his voice. He didn't like seeing you like this, so fearful and almost powerless. You were normally so confident, sure of yourself and the world. You remained hopeful throughout the past year, hoping that everything would sort itself out and just fall into place. But it didn't. You had been abandoned by the same people that you refused to stop fighting for.

"Just stay with me, I need to know that at least one thing hasn't changed," you said, sounding small. Loki nodded, picking you up gently as he went to pull back the sheets. He put you in your bed, climbing in beside you and pulling the covers over the both of you. You were still crying freely, your tears soaking Loki's shirts as he held you close to him. When you eventually tired yourself out and fell asleep, Loki was left alone to his thoughts. He didn't know what he could do to make it better, all he knew was that he was going to try to rebuild the hope that had been shattered tonight. He would do whatever it took, for however long it would take. Even though you didn't see it, there was still hope in the world.
