Marcus Junius Brutus the younger is known in history as the man who killed Julius Caesar. (As he was the lead conspirator.) What is less known or at least less told is that Caesar had slept with Brutus' mom, Servilia Caepionis on multiple occasions. Servilia was Caesar's mistress up until his death.
Despite Servilia's connections to the conspirators, Servilia escaped the purges of the second triumvirate unscathed. After Brutus' death, her son's ashes were sent to her from Philippi. Servilia lived out the remainder of her life in relative comfort and affluence under the care of Cicero's friend, Titus Pomponius Atticus. Servilia died a natural death.
