According to the International Olympic Committee, tug-of-war was an Olympic sport from 1900 to 1920, and the United States actually swept all three medals in 1904 when the games were held in St. Louis. Though the sport may be thought to be dead there's an international governing body, the Tug of War International Federation, that has more than 60 member associations worldwide, and annual world championships are held for both indoor and outdoor events.
