Context: Your aunt is severely ill, and you make the decision to return to the human world to see her in her last moments.

Author Note: I was encouraged by a friend to write this. This story isn't much, but I put into words some of the feelings I experienced before and after my aunt passed away from brain cancer (it was originally in her back, but managed to travel up to her brain). I honestly don't think this is a very good chapter, and I might delete it, but I'm not sure yet. Nonetheless, I'll gladly let you read this for now.

Caution: This chapter deals with the topic of cancer and death, and it might upset some whose relatives or even close parents who have experienced this.

(M|n) took in a deep breath as he stood in front of his full-body mirror. He wasn't ready to face reality just yet. He was too terrified. He didn't want to go, but knew that if he didn't, he would regret it for the rest of his life.

Quite some time ago, the human had made the decision to stay in the Devildom, mainly because he couldn't leave a certain demon. He had had no regrets, but did stay in touch with his family, mainly his mother and his siblings.

(M|n) did miss them very much, however, he couldn't bear to leave Mammon's side. . . He hadn't been planning on going to the human world anytime soon, though his mother gave him some startling news. His aunt had fallen twice and was rushed to the hospital. She was in a coma for two weeks before finally opening her eyes.

She was being sent home today, and she asked whether she could see (M|n). He didn't get news of her fall, or of her being in a coma because he had actually been on a three-day hike with Mammon. It wasn't for fun, the duo had lost a bet to Satan and Belphie and had to brave the outside elements of the Devildom as a result.

(M|n) felt so bad after he found out what happened to her. He strongly felt like he should've learned sooner, and left earlier.

(M|n) let out a huge sigh and finally faced his reflection. His eyes were red and a tad swollen from all the crying he had done these past few days. Not only had he discovered his aunt had fallen, but that her cancer had travelled to her brain. He was furious at the world, why did they do this to her, the most kindest person he'd ever met?!

It filled him with so much pain, anger and grief. She had only stopped her medication for a small while because her body was wracked with so much pain, and in that little amount time, her cancer found its way into her brain. (M|n) knew what this meant. Once cancer had started in the brain, there was no going back, there was no way to cure it.

(M|n) didn't want to accept that. He wanted her to live, but knew that if she did, she'd continue to suffer for the rest of her life. The male cursed softly to himself and squeezed his eyes shut as he remembered his aunt. How did she look right now, he wondered? He did not look at the pictures his mother sent him because he was too scared to see her condition.

All he remembered was when she was walking around. He specifically remembered this one time she had drove over to his house, and how she laid in his bed because she was just so tired. He couldn't bear to see what she was like now.

Before he could stop them, fresh hot tears spilled down his cheeks. He fell to his knees, crying softly to himself. He didn't want to cry. He always felt weak when he cried, but in this moment, he couldn't control his emotions. He loved his aunt dearly and he just wished that the world would stop being brutal to her.

Her first battle with cancer cost her her right breast, and now another cancer was taking over her brain. (M|n) hated to see her suffer like this. The human hid his face when someone opened the door to his room. A familiar voice reached his ears as steps drew closer to him.
