💛 Sensory Overload 💛

Context: You are not particularly fond of leaving the House of Lamentation. One day, Mammon manages to persuade you into going to a party with him. However, you end up getting too overwhelmed to the point that you have a sensory overload*.

In this particular chapter: The mc has autism**. Although I do not have autism (I have yet to be diagnosed), I do have a sibling with autism, and so I tried my best using my research online and from what I myself have experienced to write this character. If there is something that is offensive or misrepresenting written in this, please inform me. I will modify what I have written. And please keep in mind not all autism is the same. This alone will not define the experience of all people with autism.

(M|n) stared intently at his phone screen as he played a game. He smiled to himself as he completed yet another level. So far, he had spent the majority of his day in his room. He preferred the comfort of his own room then sitting around the House of Lamentation. He could play his games without any sort of interaction in-between.

Despite living in the House of Lamentation for almost a year, even now, he still struggled to interact with the brothers properly. He could barely conversate with them and got very anxious when he was thrust into a conversation with any of them without any warning.

He always kept to himself once arriving. However, over time, he found that he grew a little comfortable at times to talk to any of the brothers. His struggle in communicating with them all and his preference over staying alone was due to the fact that he had autism.

It had taken a while for (M|n) to get diagnosed when he was younger, which meant for quite some time he struggled with it alone, and couldn't put a finger on as to why he felt a certain way about certain things compared to others. Finally though, he got the help that he needed, and with the support of his family, he was given many useful ways in which he could cope whenever overwhelming situations popped up out of nowhere.

Then the male was whisked away into the Devildom. . . He just suddenly appeared before men calling themselves demons and in an unfamiliar environment. That was the worst for him. He was so anxious and confused about this that he had a very severe meltdown***.

It took him a long while to calm down after what had happened to him, and then his situation was explained to him by these 'demons'. (M|n) was still very bewildered after, and even now, he wondered as to how he ended up here and why he in particular was chosen for whatever this was.

(M|n) knew that it was going to be a struggle for him in the Devildom. Especially after he explained what his disorder was and how it made certain situations difficult for him. They just stared at him, and (M|n) couldn't discern how they were feeling. They then told him that they would do their best to accommodate him despite not knowing what autism was.

(M|n) appreciated the sentiment. . . And they all did try their best but sometimes they just didn't understand him and his issues, and it was so frustrating. He just hoped that with time, they would learn enough to help him when he truly needed it. . .

The male began to shake his leg as he continued to play. He was so absorbed in the gameplay that he didn't acknowledge that there was a demon calling out to him at first.

Suddenly, there was warm breath against his ear as Mammon exclaimed, "(M|n), can't ya hear me?!" (M|n) winced at the almost-shout, immediately shuffling away from Mammon with a disgruntled expression.

"H-How many times have I told you not to speak that loud or that close to me?! I don't like it!" (M|n) grumbled. Mammon shrugged apologetically.

"Ah, sorry. I forgot 'bout that. I'll remember for next time, I swear. Anyway, there's a reason why I'm here!" (M|n) already felt weary hearing that. He hoped that whatever Mammon offered stayed within the confines of the House of Lamentation. He did not want to step one foot outside.
