Chapter 44: Coming To Me
I couldn't hold my own sanity much longer. Tears started falling tremendously and I couldn't even close my eyes. I didn't want any of these to happen. This is why I chose to let go of my freedom to save theirs.
I clutched my chest and felt my head spin around. Maybe I was naive to think that this won't all end up in all of this. And maybe, I'm stupid to think that she even agreed to me in the first place.
"Simone!"
I felt my knees wobble up and a pair of hands helped me stand up. I cried in his arms, and it was comforting enough to feel his smooth graze on my back, helping me calm down.
"I'm sorry, Jerome told me that we nee—" I sniffed and opened my eyes. My eyes went wide when I saw both a peculiar and a vampire fall down, one with a vampire bite, the other with a wooden stake in his heart.
"Harry, they're a-all dead because of me... They're all dead because of me!" I closed my eyes and hugged him tighter. I can't do this, I can't look at all of the collateral damage because of me.
Inikot niya ako at pinapatahan. I opened my eyes and saw the world I despised but had no choice to live in. I can't do this, I can't hurt a vampire, but I also don't want anyone to get hurt. Oh gosh, oh gosh.
I looked at him, his face with dried blood in it, her usual clean hair was now tousled like Jerome's. I couldn't see it clearly since my eyes were brimmed with tears.
She caressed his thumb on my eyes. "Hey, this is not your fault, okay? They're fighting because it's been a long overdue. You're not at any fault here, and we need your help, Simone."
"We need you, everyone needs you. Okay?" he carefully said and eyed me like he put all his hope on me. I carefully nodded, believing in him. I blinked and looked away.
My mouth hung and I felt my whole body shut down when I heard a close scream for help. Harry held my shaking hands and followed my gaze. They screamed for help, they're dying because of me.
"Listen to me, Simone." I closed my eyes and I felt my heart beating erratically like it wanted to get out of my chest. "Nobody here was forced to fight."
Harry's gaze and voice was comforting me. "Everyone here wanted to fight, Simone. They're here because they wanted to. And they'd be happy to die fighting the world they treasured." I looked at him, scared.
"Trust me..." He gave me a small smile that I can't help but to reciprocate. "Hmm?" I nodded and released the breath I've been keeping.
"You both done?" I smiled and nodded, carefully going out of Harry's grasps.
"Good, 'cause I think we have some fighting to do?" I grabbed one of them and took a good look at it.
It's very refined and I think it's made for the vampires.
"Don't remove it when you're done. Maghe-heal siya kung oo," he finally said before going away. I eyed Harry and nodded. I need to do this, I need to at least help lessen the victims from both parties.
