Chapter 34: Simone Dear

They pulled me to a nearby chair. Everyone eyeing me wasn't helping me breathe. Everything was coming to me. The power bestowed to me, the weight on my shoulders, Historia, and now, my own biological mother. Why does it all go down to me all at once? Bakit lahat ng 'ito ay sa 'kin napunta?

"Where did you guys go? Bakit kayo puno ng alikabok?" I heard but had no ability to answer it. Isang rason ay hindi ko alam ang sasabihin, at ang pangalawa ay hindi ko maatim na ikwento pa sa kanila ang tungkol sa Historia.

I sighed and put my palms over my eyes. Breathe. I reminded myself.

Papa cleared his throat. "Now that we have assured everyone's safety, we will talk about the sudden changes," I looked at papa to listen more, I need diversion very badly.

"No classes will be held this week. Professors are going to be on-call and ready in case an attack will happen. And for your safety, we require everyone to stay in your dorms for the whole week." The murmurs started sufficing. I stressedly brushed my fingers through my hair. Naramdaman ko ang pagtitig nina ate at mommy sa akin ngunit hindi ko na 'yon pinansin pa.

"The whole school might as well be on lockdown. Food and other necessities will be given to you everyday with the help of our staff and chefs. We advise you to strictly follow our protocol so nothing bad will happen. The school's priority is the safety of our beloved students."

I guess that'll be a good thing for me. Pwede kong pag-aralan ang mga nakuha kong pahina at makapag-isip ng estratehiya. ZS said that I'm the last choice for freedom. Kung tama nga 'yon, ay ako na lang ang inaasahan ng mga diyos para dito.

I closed my eyes and tried to calm my nerves. Hinawakan ni mommy ang likod ko kaya lalong gumaan ang pakiramdam ko.

"We are very sorry for the recent happenings, it is inevitable but we will try our best to stop this from getting out of hand. As of now, they are not making a move..." papa looked at me for a brief moment, telling me to calm down. "And we will ensure that this academy will be available for everyone's safety." Binaba na ni papa ang mic at lumapit sa isang professor at may binulong ito. The professors close to the door started ushering everyone to the doors.

Papa tapped the mic once again. "Also, soldiers from across the globe given by our sponsors are guarding the gates so I suggest that you refrain from pursuing magic when going back to your respective rooms. In order to successfully keep our kind and the safety of our world, I sincerely ask everyone to cooperate. Cooperation is needed for these uncertain times." I nodded. He's right.

"And dinner will be sent to everyone's dormitory. The curfew is still 10pm to 6am but guards will be guarding in the mornings. Thank you everyone." Tuluyan na niya itong binaba at bumukas na ang pintuan ng auditorium.

The place started to become empty but I think there was an invisible agreement that no one would go out in my family. Lahat kami ay nanatili sa mga pwesto namin, papa even sat on a chair.

Once the door was closed, silence enveloped us. No one was talking but I knew that this is a matter regarding me. I sighed inwardly and I lowered my gaze.

"First of all, where were you two that you didn't hear the announcement that can be heard from miles away?" I closed my eyes and looked at Jerome. He looked at me boringly and shrugged. Sumimangot ako at iniwas ang tingin sa kanya.

What am I going to say? Na pumasok kami sa isang nakakatakot na tunnel at nagnakaw ng mga pahina ng libro? Tapos tatanungin nila kung bakit, ang isasagot ko ay tungkol kay ZS, then another never ending why's that I need to answer?
