Chapter 20: New Beginnings

Pushing all my thoughts to the side, I decided to enjoy this day. There's no use crying about the future when it hasn't even begun. Seize the day, they said.

"Alam mo bang ang sakit ng kamay ko araw araw dahil sa pagsusulat ng mga lessons? Goodluck na lang sa mga kulang mo." I smiled. I miss her nagging.

"Bakit mo naman ginawa 'yon? It's not like I asked for it." She rolled her eyes.

"Bakit pa ba? Of course I'm the bestest best friend in the whole universe!" Calla said it with so much sass. Pero yung tipong kami lang ang makakarinig dahil nandito pa din sina mommy, ate, Jerome, at Harry.

"Self proclaimed tayo bes?" I looked at the boys and they were bickering each other. Napatingin sa akin si Harry at ngumiti kaya napangiti din ako pabalik.

"Akala ko nung una si Jerome yung crush mo kasi inaaway mo siya." Nangunot ang noo ko. 'Di ba dapat siya nga yung ayaw ko? "Nagbabasa ka libro 'di ba? Enemies to lovers kineme!" My mouth hang open at napatawa si Calla. "Pero seeing that you're cautious with Harry, at namumula ka ngayon, alam na." Nanlaki ang mata ko at tinakpan ang pisngi ko.

"Parang ikaw hindi gusto si Jerome." Nang-uuyam kong sagot. It's her turn to blush. I giggled at her shy face.

"Crush lang! Andami ko kayang crush dito. Si Den, si Kael, si Poe, si—" Sinubo ko sakanya ang cake na kinakain ko.

"Oo na, self proclaimed bestest best friend." tumabi sa akin si Ate Carlene at ngumiti.

"Kausapin ka daw ng dalawang lalaki." Napatango ako at tumingin sa dalawa. Harry was pushing Jerome to come here and Jerome reluctantly follows Harry. Umalis naman sa tabi ko si Calla at Ate Carlene.

"Are you okay now?" Tumango ako.

"Tsh, you really impel a lot of bad luck do you?" Jerome said in a bored tone. Parang siya hindi ah?

I snorted. "Atleast I'm using all my bad luck so only good ones remain." I retorted back.

"Who says you already used all of it?" I saw Harry nudge him secretly. Harry coughed to avert my attention. "Here's my small gift to you. I didn't know it was your birthday but Calla told me just this morning." I smiled. Kinuha ko ang paper bag sa kamay niya at bubuksan sana ito.

"Ah 'wag." He laughed shyly. "Mamaya mo na lang buksan." I giggled and nodded.

"Thank you." I sincerely said. Binangga ulit ni Harry si Jerome sa balikat. In dramas, female leads don't see them nudging each other but I see it in 4k resolution.

"Oh." Padarag na bigay ni Jerome sa isang box na nakabalot. I grabbed it and opened it. Hindi naman nagsalita si Jerome. I opened the box and was shock to see what's inside.

Another box. Tinignan ko ng masama si Jerome at kinuha ang box na nasa loob. Tinanggal ko ang wrapper na nando'n at binuksan ang box na naman.

I sighed loudly. I squinted my eyes at him. He just smirked at me. Nakakagigil na 'tong lalaking 'to. How did Calla like him?

I opened the box again and again until it was the size of my thumb. I think I opened a total of fifteen layers, that's a lot of paper to recycle. Save mother Earth.

Kapag ito wala pa lang laman, I'll use my ability firsthand on him.
