because i..
« please don't say you love me »

Hyewon's breathing was erratic when she arrived at the large, green field. She laid on the grass as her chest heaved up and down from both anxiety and exhaustion.

In an attempt to calm her restless thoughts, she closed her eyes. She let the darkness envelop her. And as always, he invaded her thoughts. She was reminded of their first kiss, the first time she let herself be vulnerable under his touch. It was a magical moment, one she could never forget.

The demon fluttered her eyes open, she turned her head to the side. She sighed. She hated the fact that he wasn't laying by her side. She looked up at the sky. The sun was setting, coloring the sky a beautiful mixture of pink, blue, and orange hues.

"Renjun," Hyewon whispered out his name as her emotions got the best of her. Tears welled up in her eyes. She looked down at the dry blood on her hand. "I miss you.."

She couldn't handle the distance anymore. She wanted to be near him, to see him, hear him, and hold him. Even though he pushed her away, she only wanted to hold onto him.

She had been three weeks without him. And it took a great amount of self-control to not go knocking at his door. But she could not control herself anymore. She had to see him now.

The demon got up from the grass, dusting herself off. With little hesitation, Hyewon led her way to his house. Hoping he'd welcome her as he always did. With open arms.

. . .

The demon's feet halted at his doorstep. Once again, she was hesitant. She raised her fist into the air but couldn't bring herself to knock. She let a few seconds go by before she finally took a deep breath, let it go, and knocked on the door.

Another couple of seconds went by before the door opened. Anxious, Hyewon looked up and a part of her was slightly relieved that Jeno was the one to open it.

"Uhm, hi," Hyewon mumbled. She didn't know what it was about Jeno but he always made her feel insecure. "Uh, is Renjun here?"

Jeno crossed his arms over his chest. He took in her physical condition, bruised lip and cheek as well as a bloody hand. "Not at the moment," He told her and she nodded. She didn't know if it was an excuse or if he was actually out but she decided not to push it.

"Oh, okay."

"You can wait for him inside," The Angel offered. "You don't look..okay."

"No, I'm fine. Uh, I'm just gonna go," Hyewon refused. "I don't think I should stay." Without another word, she turned to walk away.
