Renjun sat in the third row of the classroom. Physically he was in the classroom but mentally, he was still in the field with Hyewon. A small smile tugged on his lips as he recalled the close memory. Perhaps, it was the foreign feelings she made him feel but he was thoroughly infatuated by her.

"Hyewon," Renjun called her name, causing her to turn to him, their faces merely inches apart. He smiled. "Cho Hyewon."

The demon furrowed her eyebrows, "What?"

"If you weren't a demon, and I wasn't an angel," he began, "Do you think we'd date?"

Renjun watched as she thought about it for a second, before answering, "Yeah, I'd fall in love with you and you would fall in love with me. And then I'd break your heart."

"Why would you break my heart?" The Angel questioned as he focused on her. Hyewon sat up and met his gaze.

"Because that's just how I am," she smiled bitterly. "But I can assure you that we would have a great time together. Our time would be unforgettable." She continued as he fantasized about a life in which they weren't forbidden.

"I'd let you break my heart as many times as you want, Hyewon," he assured her earning a loud laugh from her. "In our next life, I promise I will, Jun."

"Renjun, are you listening?" The called boy was snapped out of his daze and brought back to reality. "Huh? Oh. Yeah, I'm listening," he smiled at his friend only to be met with a disappointed face.

Renjun scoffed at his attitude towards him, "You know, I thought you were my friend. But now, I understand where your friendship lies."

"I am your friend," Jeno defended, crossing his hands over his chest and raising a questioning eyebrow.

"Well, it doesn't seem like it. I know you judge me, everything I do. You hate that I am friends with a demon. You hate that I found someone that I really like," Renjun argued, "If you were my true friend, you would be happy for me."

Jeno shook his head, "You fell right into her trap, Renjun. Do you think she really likes you? Tell me, has she done anything to show you her feelings?" The angel remained silent. "Demons feel nothing, and Hyewon is no exception."

"We kissed," Renjun blurted out. "I kissed her and she kissed me back. That must mean something, right?"

"A kiss doesn't mean anything," Jeno told him, he sighed, grabbing his stuff before leaving Renjun to his dismay.

His relationship with Hyewon wasn't anything serious. Yet he couldn't help but hope for more. Is this really just for her own fun? He asked himself but quickly brushed it off. No, we're friends. But he wasn't so sure about that either.

The library, the field, the kiss..did it all mean nothing? He couldn't help but fret about Jeno's words. Demons feel nothing.

And as much as he hated to admit it, he was starting to believe his friend's warning. After all, she was a demon. And angels were gullible. It made perfect sense.

Grabbing his stuff, the angel stood up and left the classroom. He sped through the halls going to the place he knew she would be at. The rooftop.

. . .

Hyewon was seated beside her two friends. She was entirely zoned out as they talked between themselves. Taking note of her unusual silence, Yoon and Hani turned to her. They eyed each other as if contemplating whether they should interrupt her train of thoughts.

"Thinking about Mr. Goody Two Shoes," Hani nudged the demon earning her attention. "Mr. Goody Two Shoes?" Hyewon furrowed her eyebrows, questioning the nickname.

"Oh, come on, Hyewon," Hani giggled, "Do you think we're dumb? We know about your little thing with that angel."

"What?"

Yoon spoke up this time, "We saw you ditching with him. You can see the entrance very well from this rooftop."

She remained silent.

"Are you in love with him or something?" Hani laughed, "I thought you had higher standards." Hyewon's temper seemed to be running extra thin as she easily became angered by Hani's words.

"I'm not stupid, why would I fall in love with an angel? It's like digging my own grave. I just wanted some fun," The demon rolled her eyes. "Also, what I do is none of your business."

"Damn, alright," Hani rolled her eyes, "I was just asking, no need to get all angry demon on me."

Hyewon stood up from her seat, "Whatever, I'm leaving." She waved at Yoon and ignored Hani. She dragged her feet on the concrete as she walked to the double doors.

Pushing the heavy door open, she was met with a familiar pair of brown eyes. He had heard everything.
