AHSOKA TANO
The Grand Master of the New Jedi Order on Cialone, twenty-two-year-old Ahsoka Tano, sat bolt upright in her bed, breathing heavily. It was that horrible dream again. She had been having it almost every night for a month now, and it was starting to scare her. She knew what having a dream this regularly meant.
It meant that it was a vision.
Suddenly she felt like she was going to throw up. That was also a side effect of the dream. It inexplicably triggered morning sickness. She scrambled out of bed and ran for the refresher, making it to the toilet just in time to avoid vomiting all over the floor.
She had little to throw up, other than bile and some half-digested fruit. She practically hadn’t had supper, unless half an overripe meiloorun could be considered a meal. Amni would have said it couldn’t.
But then again, she wouldn’t say anything, because no one knew. Ahsoka was three months pregnant, and it was officially her deepest secret. She hadn’t done any pregnancy tests that would leave evidence, because she had found out through the Force’s guidance, but she knew she couldn’t hide her growing baby bump forever.
But, to prolong the amount of months of being in the clear, she had even gone so far as to hack into the New Jedi Temple’s medical records. She had changed her information to make it look like she had already done her yearly checkup, and had filled in the report with normal results, and what her height and weight would have been without the pregnancy. So she wouldn’t have Amni asking questions.
Ahsoka’s stomach appeared to be finished emptying itself of its contents. She sat up, and dizzily managed to stand. What bothered her the most about her pregnancy was that females of the Togruta species didn’t get morning sickness, yet here she was throwing up in the toilet almost every night.
She hereby blamed Lux. She was now certain that she was carrying a Human-Togruta hybrid.
She hit the flush function for the toilet on a little control panel on the wall, and shakily managed to stand. She checked her three-sizes-too-big t-shirt for any stains, then she bushed her teeth. Satisfied that she could no longer taste bile, she was turning around to walk back out when she noticed that the door was still open.
And remembered that Lux was still sleeping in her room.
Kensunihé! She thought, mentally slapping herself. Lux is such a light sleeper, and he probably heard everything!
Taking a deep breath, she turned the lights in the refresher off again and walked back into her room. Armed with a believable excuse, she got back into bed. Sure enough, the moment she did, Lux sat up, propping himself up on his arm.
“Socks, what’s going on?” Lux asked. He still sounded sleepy, but there was a note of concern in his voice. “I thought I heard you throwing up. Are you sick?”
“Yeah,” she said. “Sorry, I didn’t mean for you to hear. I guess the meiloorun I ate for dinner was rotten or something.”
He seemed to believe it, but not quite. “But this isn’t the first time it’s happened. You’ve thrown up a few other times, too.”
“I know. I have a sensitive stomach–” She winced internally at how close to the truth that came, “–and it’s getting harder and harder to find supplies that aren’t rotten, or damaged in some way. That meiloorun was a bad one in what I though was a good shipment.”
Lux nodded. “I can agree with that. I’ve had to resort to bargaining with the lowest of the low to find good food and the medical supplies we need. We’ve got nearly a hundred and fifty people to provide for here, and frankly, my bank account is only going to get us so far.”
It was a grim topic, but she had successfully guided the subject of their conversation away from her vomiting episode a few minutes prior. “You know what?” she said. “I really didn’t get that much sleep, and I want to squeeze another hour or two in before the sun comes up.”
“Okay. Love you,” he said, and kissed her lightly on the lips.
“Love you,” she whispered, then curled up in the blankets. She hated lying to him bold-faced, but she had accepted that it was what she was going to have to do until she knew what she was going to do next.
*Ahsoka is three months pregnant. Darth Maul and the Empire have had three months to plan their next attacks, if one is imminent or not. But will Ahsoka's secret be found out? Or is she in the clear? And does Lux know more than she thinks? You'll find out in the next thrilling chapter of The Unchronicled Adventures Of Ahsoka Tano!
Man, book eight is already coming along really well! I was originally only planning to make eight books (I have a title and a basic plot summary ready and everything) but I realized that if I used this ABSOLUTELY AWESOMAZING story idea in book seven, then it was going to be a full 110 pages. And the contrast in page numbers with the first book (30 to 110 - you do the math) would have been too big for my liking, so I moved that idea to the next one.
