LUX BONTERI
"Lux Bonteri, please report to hangar bay seven," a monotone voice said over the loudspeakers.
It was about three hours after their arrival on Morvolo, and Lux couldn't get over the sheer size of the place. According to what Saw had told him about the base, it was made from an old Imperial Star Destroyer. The ship had landed on the planet's surface to make repairs in a small, sheltered valley surrounded by a high mountain range near the beginning of the Galactic Empire.
But due to the extreme temperatures and the inability to send a distress signal to the rest of the fleet, the crew of the Star Destroyer hadn't survived the harsh winter. While considering candidates for their off-world base, the Onderonian Rebels had discovered it and repurposed it into their new hideout.
However, certain renovations had been made to adapt the ship to the difficulties Morvolo presented. For one, the planet was rich in rhydonium, a highly radioactive and conductive mineral, which tampered with the power generators on board. But, thanks to their allies in a mining and power company nearby, they managed to convert small amounts of it into nuclear energy.
And so, because of their love of ships, during this particular tour, Christo, Anakin and Ahsoka had been absolutely riveted.
Jogging down the hallway towards the hangar bay, he listened to the sound of his lightweight ThermaGear snowsuit swishing as he moved. At first, he had been quite horrified at the though of wearing such things, because it was impossible to move quietly in them, but he was used to it now.
It was amazing how he had learned to adapt to situations as quickly as he could now, compared to way back when, during his experiences with DeathWatch...
Letting the memories wash over him, he came to a stop in front of the nearest entrance to hangar bay seven. He glanced up at the top of the doorway. As it was one of the earlier models of the well-known Star Destroyer – probably an old Republic ship that had been given a new paint job to look like the others – it still bore traces of carbon scoring from battles of long ago...
He walked inside, to find... an empty hangar. He was alone with piles of crates, the lights were dim, and it was even colder than the rest of the base.
Suddenly on high alert, he prepped the blaster from his right holster and made sure that his lightsaber was within reach. Even though he had changed his outfit for the cold, he still kept all of his weapons close.
"Is anyone there?" he called, advancing carefully. He heard a rustle to the left, and whipped around to point the blaster in its direction. "Show yourself!"
There was a dull screech of metal on metal, and he turned again so that he was facing the sound. Suddenly he spotted someone up ahead. They were wearing a cloak, but when they spoke, he recognized the voice instantly.
"Hello, Aluxso," they said, taking off their hood and turning to see him.
It was Enarion Jarrus Dume. But not as a ghost: in the flesh and blood.
"Enarion!" Lux gasped. He couldn't believe his eyes. He was seeing the man who had kept so much from him with his own eyes.
"I'm sure you must have questions for me. And now... Now is the right time for me to answer them."
"Who are you? What else are you hiding from me? How did you know my mother? Who was the other child?"
Enarion shook his head, chuckling a little. "You always were inquisitive. Just like your sister."
"How did you know Jani?" Lux asked, the hostility slowly leaving his voice.
"I raised her, for both of your safety," he said, leaning up against a stack of crates. "Twins, whether one or both are Force-sensitive, are dangerous if kept together. The presence of one influences the midichlorians of the other, not unlike a planet's gravity over its moon, and they are less active if kept apart.
"Your mother and I couldn't risk you being discovered by the Republic or the Separatists, so she sent your sister to live with my extended family and I. Don't you remember that dream I sent you?"
"You sent that?" Lux was shocked. How did he have the power to?
He nodded. "Yes. I'm Force-sensitive, and I used to be a Jedi, which had a direct impact on your life."
"But... What do you mean? Force-sensitivity is hereditary, even if it skips a few generations! My parents weren't Force-sensitive!"
"One of them was," Enarion offered quietly.
"That's not true..." Lux sank to his knees. "It can't be! That's impossible!"
His hard blue eyes glimmered in the light. "No... I am your father."
*Lux has uncovered the last secret that Enarion Jarrus Dume was hiding: that he is his father. But if Enarion is his surviving parent, then does that make Kanan Jarrus his brother? Could Kanan be the other Bonteri child? And will Ahsoka decide to tell Lux that the Bonteri line will soon have an heir? You'll find out in the next amazing chapter of The Unchronicled Adventures Of Ahsoka Tano!
