I preferred when it was just Sirius and me – That was when I could kiss him and love him properly. I carefully sat on the hospital stretcher beside him. I bounced on it, trying to get comfortable on the hard stretcher which made Sirius chuckle, "How are you lying on this?"

"Everything hurts, that's how," He smiled weakly.

I took his large hand, wrapping both of mine around it, "I know, darling,"

"How are you feeling?" Sirius asked nervously,

"Pretty sore," I murmured, forcing myself to keep a hold of his hands.

"I am so sorry," Sirius lifted his hand and cupped my cheek. I melted into it, closing my eyes for a few moments,

"I know you're sorry,"

"What do I do? How do I make this better?" He rambled,

"Sirius..."

"Lillian, please, I – I can't lose you,"

"You're not losing me. I promise. I just need time, okay?"

Sirius nodded, closing his eyes in exhaustion.

"You need to rest," I brushed the hair from his face,

"Lay with me?" He whispered,

I nodded, beginning to lie down only to have Mehen slithering towards me with Nathaniel beside him, twiddling thumbs and hiccuping on sobs.

"Nathaniel, what's wrong?" I sat up and he climbed onto the bed without noticing Sirius and hugging me like a sloth once again, "I had a nightmare," He sobbed, his little chest beginning to heave, "That – that – that – M-Mummy – that she – she died," He cried violently, wailing and I held his head to my shoulder, glancing over at Sirius who had a sorry expression on his face.

"Shh, it was just a bad dream," I rubbed his back in a motherly way.

I'd always been very good with children. Considering there was a six-year gap between my brother and me, I was very good at calming a hysterical child.

"I just want my Mummy," He wailed,

I glanced back at Sirius for reassurance, but he was rather clueless, "Your mummy is fighting all the bad guys, remember?" I whispered, patting his back as he choked on his own saliva,

Nathaniel nodded, wiping his snotty nose on my shoulder, "I'm scared of the bad man,"

I glanced back at Sirius gesturing to him that he was the bad man the little boy was referring to.

"That wasn't the real bad man," I tried to reassure him, "He's here with us because he's a good guy,"

"Wh–Why was he fighting you then?"

"Because he just got confused, he never wanted to hurt either of us."

"I hurt him?" Sirius whispered, his voice trembling with fear.

I shook my head, quickly leaning over and pecking his forehead. My movements made Nathaniel lift his head and look at Sirius, "What happened to you?"

"A bad man hurt me too," Sirius explained,

"But you are the bad man,"

"Sirius would never hurt you or me, don't you worry." I stood up and lifted him out of bed, "Come on, do you want me to go grab you some blankets and you can sleep on the chair with Slimy?"

Nathaniel nodded and I placed him on the small chair before I transfigured it into a miniature sofa with blankets. The boy crawled into a little ball and was sound asleep in a matter of seconds. I retreated back to Sirius and wrapped my arms around his neck before lying beside him in the hospital bed far too small for the both of us.
