Voldemort hadn't been in my mind for many weeks after the attack on the Potters – but I could feel him. I could feel him getting closer – like a storm brewing from the distance. I could see the dark clouds looming above me but everyone else was facing the wrong way. I could've told them to turn around – the storm behind you – it will kill you all. But I didn't. In fact, I let the storm grow closer – I let the winds pick up and I let the thunder crackle while everyone else tried to figure out what was going on.
Maybe Voldemort hadn't been in my mind but I could still hear him. I could hear his looming voice – it was the thunder.
I will kill them all.
I will lead you to greatness. I will save you.
He'd been feeding me thoughts. Visions.
The night before, I saw myself standing beside him with this great snake – Lily and James's bodies were at my feet and Peter was there too – Babies were crying – Remus was weeping – Sirius was screaming and Marlene and Skyla were nowhere to be found.
I hadn't told anyone.
Why would I have told anyone such a thing?
"Lillian! Come on!" Sirius grabbed my hand, pulling me into an alleyway to dodge the spells being thrown at us. It was late January, snow crunched beneath our feet and the air still pricked my skin with its cold shards. Dark smog filled the air, and a deep green skull hung in the sky with a snake twisting through the eye.
Muggles screamed as they watched their loved ones drop to the ground dead while the death eaters laughed. "Stay close." Sirius squeezed my hand and I nodded, following him out of the alley to help save the children.
I felt a large gush of wind above my head and I snapped my head to see a large crowned eagle diving towards Sirius while he lifted a little girl onto his hip. Without thinking, I transfigured into my Animagus and flew towards Elliot – his talons were pursed but so were mine as he rammed into me in an endeavour to push me to the ground but he failed.
I dug my claws into his chest, making blood draw as I screeched loudly at Sirius. Elliot turned to him, getting distracted from me as Sirius held his wand at the bird. I squawked at Elliot before I took off and Elliot didn't hesitate to try and fly after me. I flew out of the small village – away from the commotion until I felt him hovering above me. I spun around, letting him latch his talons into my shoulders to push me to the ground. He screeched in victory as I struggled out of his grip.
Just as I was about to hit the ground, I flipped us so he got the fall damage. Quickly, we were both back as ourselves with blood all down us. My shoulders were bleeding – dripping onto him while Elliot's torso was leaving him in a pool of blood. One of my hands was beside his head while I pressed a wand to his neck with the other.
"You've gotten stronger." He croaked – his voice no more than a deep rasp due to the wand to his jugular.
"Thanks," I grunted,
"But I see you still think you're some kind of hero." He began to reach up to touch my face but I grabbed his wrist and thrust it back to the ground. His fingers curled into a fist, attempting to thrust it towards me but he failed since I had the upper hand.
"I will kill you, Elliot," I whispered,
"So, you've said." A twisted smirk pulled at his lips – revealing his bloodied teeth and gums, "Why haven't you done it yet, Lillian? Why haven't you killed me yet?"
"I'm about to," I said defensively,
"Go on then. Kill me." He sneered.
Elliot knew how to play games. He knew how to twist and warp your mind and I didn't know how he did it – leaving me defenceless despite the wand I held to his neck.
